Dom Dolla shares his new remix, “Addicted To Bass (Dom Dolla Relapse),” his modern take on the classic Australian dance track “Addicted To Bass” by Puretone. The remix debuted last December during Dom Dolla’s landmark headline show at Sydney’s Allianz Stadium, where he became the first electronic artist to headline a stadium in his home country. The surprise unveiling of the remix was a highlight of the historic night, reflecting a track Dom Dolla has long been passionate about since his teenage years.
On choosing the track, Dom Dolla explains:
“This record was quite literally the soundtrack to my childhood; released in 1998, it followed me everywhere as a kid. Despite how immersive it was for me, spending a lot of time overseas as an adult, I was surprised how few of my friends were familiar with it. Fast forward to preparing for my first ever stadium show in 2025. I was toying around with a bunch of remix and edit ideas, going through an old playlist of records I loved and I just couldn’t move past it. Almost 30 years have gone by and I truly hope this new version finds an audience who connect with it in a fraction of the way that I did as a kid. The addiction is real.”
After receiving enthusiastic reactions from audiences worldwide, the remix earned approval from the original creators, Josh Abrahams and Amiel of Puretone. Josh Abrahams shared, “This mix finds the deeper, steamier layers in the song. While staying true to the original, particularly in the chorus, Dom has brought his own dirty funk groove to the party.”
The release follows a monumental 2025 for the Australian DJ and producer, including a Grammy nomination for Best Remixed Recording for Gorillaz’ “New Gold”, five ARIA Award wins — including the inaugural ARIA Global Impact Award — the ARIA Award-winning single “Dreamin” (ft. DAYA), a collaboration with Kid Cudi on “Forever” performed at Madison Square Garden, and “No Room For A Saint” ft. Nathan Nicholson, written for Apple’s F1 The Movie.
“Addicted To Bass (Dom Dolla Relapse)” is available now, continuing Dom Dolla’s streak of boundary-pushing electronic music.
