Australian songwriter and producer Callum MacDonald, under his solo project Monsieur Mellow, returns with the hypnotic new single “Slow Down,” featuring Sydney artist Taj Ralph. The track follows the debut release “Paris Strut” and continues to define the effortless, groove-led world of Monsieur Mellow, built alongside MacDonald’s work with R&B/soul project daste.
“Slow Down” is anchored in warm rhythms and subtle swing, with Ralph’s smooth vocals adding relaxed cadence and character. The collaboration emerged organically: MacDonald explains, “I’d been experimenting with sampled vocals but felt something was missing. Listening to Taj’s track Lay Lo, I knew he’d be the perfect voice. I sent him the instrumental, gave him total creative freedom, and he absolutely finessed the energy of the track.”
Ralph reflects on the collaboration: “Callum’s funk gave me the perfect excuse to bring energy into the track. I wrote about love and good times with new people.”
With “Slow Down,” Monsieur Mellow further establishes his solo project as a space guided by intuition, mood, and momentum—where music flows naturally and collaboration shapes the journey.
