NOTHING return with their fifth studio album, A Short History of Decay, out now via Run For Cover, arriving ahead of the band’s US tour kicking off March 4th. The album represents their most expansive and emotionally unflinching work to date, a widescreen exploration of time, memory, and the body’s gradual unraveling.
Reinvigorated by a newly solidified lineup—including guitarist Doyle Martin (Cloakroom), bassist Bobb Bruno (Best Coast), drummer Zachary Jones (MSC, Manslaughter 777), and guitarist Cam Smith (Ladder To God, Cloakroom)—the record captures frontman Domenic “Nicky” Palermo confronting aging, illness, and the weight of lived experience with startling honesty.
The album follows four preview singles—“never come never morning,” “Toothless Coal,” “Cannibal World,” and “Purple Strings”—each highlighting a different facet of NOTHING’s sound. From the industrial grind of the first two tracks, through the baggy, Madchester-inflected pulse of “Cannibal World,” to the stripped-down, acoustic intimacy of “Purple Strings”, the singles set the stage for an album that bends genres while pushing the band’s sonic boundaries.
Following two shows in Tokyo with Whirr in February, NOTHING head back to North America for an extensive headline tour, before embarking on a UK run. North American support comes from Full Body 2, Cryogeyser, and Violent Magic Orchestra. The tour culminates with the band’s own Slide Away festival in May, taking place across New York City, Chicago, and Los Angeles, celebrating the 10th anniversary of their landmark album Tired of Tomorrow with special guest performances from Hum, Chapterhouse, Swirlies, and more.

Tickets for all tour dates and Slide Away festival passes are available here.
