NYC native Bailo and Miami-based Ricky Remedy reconnect with intent on “Tonight,” a cinematic trap statement arriving February 20th via Break Room Records, an imprint under Insomniac. Shaped by distinct yet complementary foundations—Bailo’s early immersion in Queens’ hip-hop circuitry and Ricky Remedy’s Latin GRAMMY-nominated tenure as a trusted architect of 808-driven rap and bass—the single feels less like a first appearance on the label and more like a calculated continuation of shared momentum.

“Tonight” pivots around an interpolation of Montell Jordan’s late-’90s slow-burn classic Get It On Tonite, reframing its familiar invitation into something darker, sharper, and more immediate. The topline is pitched skyward and suspended over a meticulously arranged trap framework: delicate music box melodies glint against ghostly choral swells, while sweeping pitch-bent synths stretch across the stereo field. Beneath it all, rapid-fire arpeggios flicker with controlled urgency, locking into sub-heavy 808s that land with calibrated force. The result is a precise study in tension and release—nostalgia filtered through modern low-end engineering—balancing bedroom intimacy with festival-scale impact.

Reflecting on the track’s origins, Bailo explains, “‘Tonight’ came from wanting to capture that late-night energy when everything feels a little more alive. Ricky and I wanted something that hits hard in the club but still carries emotion—that tension between euphoria and nostalgia. BREAK ROOM felt like the perfect home for that feeling.”

Adding his perspective, Ricky Remedy shares, “We’re just trying to make drops that make you feel like gravity just stopped working.”

The release revives a creative partnership first sparked on “Pull Up” and “Lethal Injection,” two standouts from Bailo’s 2022 OHKAY! EP that drew co-signs from Marshmello, Alison Wonderland, CELO, CORTR, Dirty Audio, Benzi, 4B, and Stööki Sound. The chemistry that defined those early collaborations now feels sharpened and refined.

Bailo’s ties to the Insomniac ecosystem extend further through his TRICKSTAR project alongside Ookay, which delivered the LAUGHING STOCK EP and earned coverage across multiple dance outlets. He has since expanded his solo footprint with tour support for Tape B and an upcoming appearance at The Republik alongside Riot Ten.

Meanwhile, Ricky Remedy’s résumé bridges the highest tiers of hip-hop and electronic music. His production credits span collaborations with Travis Scott, Megan Thee Stallion, Young Thug, Kodak Black, Meek Mill, and Rick Ross, alongside sync placements in 22 Jump Street, Need for Speed, and UFC programming. Within dance music, he has worked with Diplo, Flosstradamus, Steve Aoki, ETC!ETC!, and Bok Nero, while delivering remixes for Skrillex and Zomboy.

On “Tonight,” those parallel worlds converge with precision. Bailo’s trap-rooted instincts and Ricky Remedy’s heavyweight command of rhythm and sub-bass align into a record that feels deliberate at every turn—leaning into wave-tinged atmospherics without sacrificing percussive punch. As Break Room Records continues to spotlight forward-facing bass music, “Tonight” stands as a measured evolution for both artists: a nod to formative influences, engineered for the future of modern trap.

“Tonight” is available now on all platforms via Break Room Records.
