Mexican-American artist Cuco has released Cucombia, a two-song project featuring his reinterpretations of the classic cumbia tracks “Llorar” and “La Negra Tomasa.” Rather than reimagining the songs, Cuco preserves their enduring spirit, paying homage to the way they already live—at sonideros, quinceañeras, weddings, and any gathering where the music turns a room alive.
These are songs Cuco absorbed long before he pursued a music career.
