As one of the most dominant forces in modern heavy music, Knocked Loose return with a ferocious new single, “Hive Mind,” featuring Denzel Curry. The track marks a rare and seamless collision between contemporary hardcore and hip-hop — a crossover that feels both natural and long overdue. Arriving alongside a music video directed by Eric Richter and Bryan Garris, the visual was filmed in the band’s hometown of Louisville, Kentucky at the legendary skate landmark David Armstrong Extreme Park, grounding the chaos in a space deeply tied to the band’s roots.
Speaking on the collaboration, frontman Bryan Garris explains, “This is something we’ve talked about doing for a long time. We wondered if we could pull it off and who would be down. In the very beginning, we said for it to work, it would have to be Denzel Curry. Because he gets it.” His instincts were right. A longtime student of hardcore and metal, Curry previously stunned heavy music fans with his explosive 2019 cover of Rage Against The Machine’s “Bulls On Parade,” proving his fluency in the genre’s intensity and spirit.
“Hive Mind” is the first taste of new music from Knocked Loose since their critically acclaimed 2024 album You Won’t Go Before You’re Supposed To, which featured the GRAMMY-nominated track “Suffocate” with Poppy. The record earned widespread praise from GQ, Forbes, The Guardian, The FADER, Revolver, Kerrang!, The Needle Drop, FLOOD, and Pitchfork, the latter awarding it an 8.0 rating and writing that the band had “amplified and concentrated their sound into something so potent that it has its own gravitational pull.” Produced by Drew Fulk — known for his work with Disturbed, Lil Peep, and Motionless In White — the album cycle culminated in a culture-defining late-night TV performance of “Suffocate” with Poppy on Jimmy Kimmel Live!
On the live front, Knocked Loose continue their ascent into arena and festival territory. They’re slated to appear at Sick New World in Las Vegas, Nevada on April 25 and again in Dallas, Texas on October 24. Between those dates, the band will join Metallica for select stadium shows this summer — a testament to how far their uncompromising sound has traveled.
Since emerging in 2014 with their debut EP Pop Culture, the Kentucky quintet have steadily refined their blend of emotionally charged songwriting and pulverizing heaviness. Their 2016 debut LP Laugh Tracks introduced staples like “Counting Worms,” while 2019’s A Different Shade of Blue pushed their sound toward darker, more punishing territory. Today, Knocked Loose — Bryan Garris, Isaac Hale, Nicko Calderon, Kevin Otten, and Kevin “Pacsun” Kaine — stand at the forefront of heavy music’s evolution.
With “Hive Mind,” they don’t just blur genre lines — they obliterate them.
