Talking about the song of the summer in February might sound a little “loco” — but not when a track like this lands. “Loco Loco,” the brand-new collaboration between GORDO and Reinier Zonneveld, doesn’t just arrive — it detonates. Packed with kinetic energy, razor-sharp production, and an instantly addictive hook, the record feels destined to dominate dance floors worldwide long before peak festival season even begins.
Behind the track stand two artists shaping electronic music from very different angles. GORDO — formerly known as Carnage — has evolved into a global Tech House powerhouse and club culture tastemaker. On the other side is Dutch techno visionary Reinier Zonneveld, a live-set virtuoso and founder of Filth on Acid, known for bridging underground techno intensity with forward-thinking, crossover appeal. Together, they’ve crafted more than a club weapon — they’ve delivered a global moment.
The story behind “Loco Loco” is as electric as the track itself. GORDO first discovered the mysterious ID sitting quietly in his inbox. After testing it in live sets, he quickly saw crowds erupt. Without an official release, the track spread like wildfire across social media, soundtracking tens of thousands of Instagram Reels and TikTok videos. Major names including Adriatique, Mind Against, Hugel, Seth Troxler, Stephen Jolk, Vintage Culture, MEDUZA, and WhoMadeWho began spinning it worldwide — all before the producer was revealed. Eventually, it surfaced that the explosive ID came from none other than Reinier Zonneveld. The accidental collaboration soon turned into a full creative partnership, with both artists officially announcing the track at the end of January.
“Loco Loco” had actually been years in the making. Zonneveld began sketching early ideas long ago, even writing and producing the lyrics before sharing them with GORDO. What started as a demo exchange evolved into an energetic back-and-forth that shaped the final record.
Sonically, the track thrives in the tension between both artists’ styles. GORDO’s rolling house grooves lock in with Zonneveld’s driving techno pulse, while shimmering synths and pounding drums inject a subtle 80s synth-pop flavor that elevates the track from underground heater to mainstage anthem. The bilingual vocal — shifting between Spanish verses and an English chorus repeating “I want you, yea-ah” — keeps things simple, memorable, and dangerously catchy.
While revered for his underground dominance, Zonneveld has long proven he can deliver commercially resonant records without sacrificing credibility. His collaboration with Cari Golden, “Things We Might Have Said,” earned BBC Radio 1’s Essential New Tune and became a favorite of Pete Tong, even topping Beatport’s overall chart for over a month in 2016. “Loco Loco” taps into that same crossover magic, blending accessibility with underground muscle.
With festival season on the horizon, the track is primed to echo across main stages and late-night tents alike. One thing is certain: once it drops, crowds won’t just dance — they’ll go fully loco.
“Loco Loco” by GORDO and Reinier Zonneveld is out now on Warner Music Central Europe, Spinnin’ Records, and Adore Music.
