Gesaffelstein Wins GRAMMY for “Abracadabra” Remix and Captures Live Energy on Enter The Gamma

Gesaffelstein cemented his status as one of electronic music’s most enigmatic figures at the 2026 GRAMMY Awards, taking home the award for Best Remixed Recording for his edit of Lady Gaga’sAbracadabra” from her album Mayhem. True to his trademark persona, the French producer accepted the award silently on stage while wearing his signature mask. In addition to the win, Gesaffelstein was nominated for Album of the Year for his work on Mayhem, having produced “Killah,” “Garden of Eden,” “Perfect Celebrity,” and “Blade of Grass,” blending his precise industrial-electronic production with Gaga’s dramatic scale.

January 2026 saw Gesaffelstein release his first-ever live album, Enter The Gamma, a recording that distills the philosophy of painter Pierre Soulages—where black is not absence, but a surface for light to take shape—into sound. Captured during the acclaimed Enter The Gamma world tour, the album presents the set as it was performed: raw, sharp, and controlled. Festival appearances at Coachella, Ultra, Portola, EDC, We Love Green, Les Vieilles Charrues, Summer Sonic, Vac, Palomosa, Lido, Rosendal, Audioriver, and Tecate Pal Norte, along with sold-out headline shows at Kia Forum in Los Angeles, Radius in Chicago, and Brooklyn Mirage in New York, shaped the tour into an immersive electronic ritual. Across the performances, rhythm and shadow intertwined, exploring the tension between violence and grace that has become Gesaffelstein’s signature.

Enter The Gamma follows 2024’s studio album Gamma, a pivotal work where Gesaffelstein introduced lyrics for the first time, written and voiced by Yan Wagner, marking a new phase of emotional restraint and minimalist form in his music. Previously, his songs had featured only guest vocalists, making this an evolution in his artistic approach.

Emerging in the early 2010s, Gesaffelstein first made waves as the Frenchman in the skinny black suit, chain-smoking through ferocious club sets, before evolving into the otherworldly, chrome-masked figure illuminated by beams of light. Albums like Aleph (2013) established him as a master at the intersection of techno, industrial, and art music, with tracks such as “Pursuit” gaining international acclaim. His precision-led production attracted collaborations with A$AP Rocky, The Weeknd on My Dear Melancholy, and 2019’s Hyperion, featuring The Weeknd, HAIM, and Pharrell Williams, demonstrating both scale and sensuality.

In recent years, Gesaffelstein has expanded his reach further, working with Lil Nas X and Charli XCX on BRAT, before finally collaborating with Lady Gaga. Their sessions for Mayhem produced four songs where his stark, industrial textures meet her cinematic intensity, reaffirming his role as a transformative force in contemporary electronic music.

With the GRAMMY win, the release of Enter The Gamma, and a resume of boundary-pushing collaborations, Gesaffelstein continues to define the art of live techno performance and studio craft, proving that even in silence, his presence is magnetic.
