Don Toliver has officially released his fifth studio album, OCTANE, arriving via Cactus Jack, Donnway & Co, and Atlantic Records. The project signals a high-gear creative shift for the Houston-born artist, capturing him fully in his element — experimental, melodic, and moving with purpose. Alongside the digital release, OCTANE is also available in physical formats, including vinyl editions and exclusive merch box sets.
Entirely executive-produced by Don Toliver, the album leans into his signature blend of psychedelic trap and atmospheric R&B, wrapped in lush, cinematic production. Longtime collaborator Derek “206DEREK” Anderson helped shape the album’s layered sound, curating unexpected samples that add texture and depth to Toliver’s immersive sonic world.
The project also marks a hands-on milestone for the artist behind the boards. Don Toliver takes on production duties for three tracks: “ATM,” “Rendezvous,” and “Call Back,” further solidifying his evolution as a multidimensional creator. Previously released singles “Tiramisu,” “E85,” and “Long Way To Calabasas” appear on the album as well — the latter recently showcased during a performance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. Visual storytelling plays a major role in the OCTANE universe, with “ATM” directed by Maxime Quoilin — known for work with Beyoncé, Jay-Z, and Miley Cyrus — and “Call Back” helmed by Shadrinsky.
To introduce the album’s world in cinematic fashion, Don Toliver hosted a live-streamed listening experience from OCTANE Mountain, filmed at the historic Mount Wilson Observatory. The multi-hour broadcast gave fans an immersive first encounter with the album’s sound and visuals. The livestream followed an exclusive in-person event at the Porsche Experience Center in Carson, California, reinforcing the project’s strong ties to car culture and performance aesthetics.
Much of OCTANE was recorded while Don Toliver toured across Europe, with additional sessions taking place in Carmel-by-the-Sea, Los Angeles, and at Mount Wilson itself. Inspired heavily by his passion for cars and rally racing, the album channels themes of motion, independence, and creative momentum, framing the project as a soundtrack for forward movement.
OCTANE continues a remarkable album run for Don Toliver, following Heaven or Hell (2020), Life of a Don (2021), Love Sick (2023), and HARDSTONE PSYCHO (2024), the latter earning him his first No. 1 on the Billboard Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. With multi-platinum hits like “No Idea,” “After Party,” “Lemonade,” and “Bandit,” he has firmly established himself as one of the defining voices in modern Hip-Hop and R&B.
With OCTANE, Don Toliver doesn’t just release another album — he builds a world in motion and invites listeners along for the ride.
