Two forward-thinking producers converge on “REQUIEM,” the latest release in Insomniac’s BREAK ROOM catalog, arriving January 16. Crafted by Arizona-based experimentalist REMNANT.exe and Philadelphia hardwave innovator KTrek, the single dives into a shadowy intersection where trap, wave, and future garage collide—an immersive statement shaped by years of shared momentum and parallel evolution.
Built with mechanical precision and cinematic intent, “REQUIEM” unfolds like a lucid dream in motion. Tight breakbeat percussion and thunderous sub-bass sequences anchor its pulse, while hazy melodic layers, crystalline vocal textures, and a soaring hook carve open the track’s otherworldly core. The arrangement gradually expands from meticulous sound design into a euphoric hardwave finale, delivering a climactic rush that feels both visceral and transcendent.
Reflecting on the long road to collaboration, REMNANT.exe shares, “I first discovered KTrek’s music around 2019–2020, and since then we’ve consistently found ourselves operating in the same spaces, both online and off, culminating with us touring a b2b set together on a string of shows with Ravenscoon in 2023–24. That was also when we started working on ‘REQUIEM,’ and it really did take about two and a half years for us to fully realize the vision of this song. I think we nailed the combo of our respective sounds in this one, and I’m super excited to finally share it with the world.”
Inviting listeners deeper into the track’s immersive atmosphere, KTrek adds simply, “Get lost in the ether. I hope you enjoy.”
After discovering KTrek’s music in 2019, REMNANT.exe found a kindred creative force navigating similar sonic terrain. Their shared affinity for cinematic bass storytelling led to a series of back-to-back sets, including a standout appearance at Symmetry Music & Arts Festival and a run of dates on Ravenscoon’s Periphery Tour. “REQUIEM,” developed and refined over years following those nationwide shows, reflects a mutual pursuit of balance—precision and chaos, structure and emotion—woven into a singular vision.
For REMNANT.exe, the release continues an artistic arc that has positioned him as one of wave’s most forward-thinking voices. Following his standout contribution to Hex Cougar’s Visions EP via BREAK ROOM, his catalog has continued to blur the lines between future garage, drum and bass, and trap. Collaborations with Deadcrow, vowl., juuku, and Bebi, along with remixes for Seven Lions and Pauline Herr, have earned support from BBC Radio 1, Alison Wonderland, Illenium, Zeds Dead, and San Holo, alongside coverage from DJ Culture Mag, UFO Network, and Fresh Music Freaks.
KTrek stands at the forefront of hardwave’s next generation. Known for darkly futuristic sound design and cyberpunk-leaning trap hybrids, he’s cultivated a global following through immersive production and in-house vocals that heighten his cinematic edge. With over 35 million cumulative streams and endorsements from Illenium, Deadcrow, Krewella, and Heimanu, KTrek has cemented his role as a vital architect within the modern wave movement.
Together, REMNANT.exe and KTrek channel their distinct aesthetics into a unified force. “REQUIEM” functions as both homage and evolution, bridging introspective wave textures with the explosive energy of contemporary trap. It’s a collaboration that expands the edges of both artists’ worlds, delivering a track that feels as timeless as it is futuristic.
REMNANT.exe and KTrek’s new single “REQUIEM” is available now on all platforms via BREAK ROOM Records.
