Two of electronic music’s most versatile new voices, Eyezic and demotapes, unite on “Somebody Else,” a radiant, vocal-driven single arriving December 12th via Lost In Dreams Records. The collaboration melds Eyezic’s kinetic, genre-blending production with demotapes’ emotional, forward-thinking pop sensibilities, resulting in a melodic house track that shimmers with nostalgia, heart, and movement.
At its core, “Somebody Else” explores the bittersweet ache of watching someone move on. Anchored by an airy vocal hook, the track balances melancholy with release, featuring sparkling synths, lullaby-like melodies, and a glossy bassline. Delicate arpeggios cascade like wind chimes, creating an introspective dreamscape suited for both sunset drives and festival mainstages.
Reflecting on the collaboration, Eyezic shares, “This one came super easy. I’ve been such a big fan of demotapes for some time and can easily say he has been a big influence in my sound lately. So happy to have worked on this one with him and the excitement we both had on the vision.”
Demotapes adds, “‘Somebody Else’ is a song about moving on from someone and the feelings of sadness and nostalgia for a past relationship.”
The track developed naturally from a shared creative spark, beginning with Eyezic sketching ideas from a sample pack provided by demotapes. The collaboration was road-tested during live performances, including Eyezic’s support slot for demotapes’ headline show in New York, where its euphoric melancholy resonated with audiences.
For Eyezic, “Somebody Else” continues a prolific streak with Lost In Dreams, following 2023’s Reflections EP and this year’s In Motion EP. Praised by EDM Identity, Acid Stag, Relentless Beats, and FrontView Magazine, and supported on radio by Alison Wonderland, NGHTMRE, and SLANDER, he has performed at Beyond Wonderland SoCal, Spring Awakening, and Elements Festival, with an upcoming set at Lost In Dreams San Francisco slated for early 2026.
Demotapes, hailing from San Francisco, brings cinematic depth to the track. Known for collaborations with Elohim, Disco Lines, and pluko, he continues to blur the lines between emotive songwriting and forward-thinking dance music. His live presence includes performances at Under the K Bridge in Brooklyn and an upcoming Lost In Dreams San Francisco show, solidifying his rising profile within the label’s universe.
