Visionary Australian duo Empire Of The Sun have revealed the first-ever lineup for Chrysalis, a new three-day destination festival set for May 14–16, 2026 at The Sculpture Gardens at Puerto Los Cabos in San José del Cabo, Baja California. Built in partnership with 100x Hospitality, the event will host more than 25 artists across three stages, blending immersive design, curated environments, and a wide creative world shaped by the band’s imagination.
Rather than following a traditional festival blueprint, Chrysalis is designed as a journey—one that shifts through electronic experimentation, psychedelic textures, exploratory pop, and left-of-center live performance. The lineup reflects this broader vision, emphasizing contrast, emotion, and storytelling while inviting audiences into the mythic universe Empire Of The Sun have spent years cultivating.
Across the weekend, fans will experience three unique performances by Empire Of The Sun, supported by a vibrant roster that includes a DJ set from Disclosure, the kaleidoscopic energy of The Flaming Lips, alt-pop futurists Magdalena Bay, and indie pop favorite Del Water Gap. The festival also welcomes global electronic staples DJ Tennis and DJ Heartstring, shape-shifting duo RIO KOSTA, Mexican retro-funk group Midnight Generation, house specialists Walker & Royce, and French-Mexican performer ADANOWSKY. Rounding out the weekend are Peruvian producer Sofia Kourtesis, cinematic sound crafter Aaron Hibell, and dance-rock duo Roi Turbo, forming a cross-genre constellation aligned with the festival’s themes of imagination and transformation.
Speaking on the festival’s creative heart, Luke Steele shared:
“Chrysalis is about imagination and rebirth… a spirit-immersive experience where people leave transformed. The story revolves around symbols—the Door, the Key, the Bell, the Wings, the Egg—each representing a stage of revelation, awakening, and new beginnings. It’s about creating a journey through music, art, and spirit at a time when the world is overflowing with distortion.”
The setting is just as integral as the sound. The Sculpture Gardens at Puerto Los Cabos provide a secluded, art-filled landscape shaped by desert flora, shaded walkways, and open clearings. Festivalgoers will explore distinct spaces such as Crania Reclaim, an architectural reclamation zone built from salvaged materials, alongside coastal escapes like El Ganzo Beach Club and Veleros Beach Club. A curated culinary program, A Taste of Cabo, highlights regional flavors through seafood, tacos, and Baja-inspired dishes prepared by local chefs.

Beyond the festival grounds, San José del Cabo offers a serene extension of the Chrysalis universe. The town’s beaches, historic streets, galleries, and dining culture create a natural complement to the weekend—rooted in warmth, creativity, and a deep connection to nature.
Attendees can shape their stay with a variety of lodging options, from luxury and boutique hotels to glamping, private villas, treehouse retreats, and all-inclusive resorts. Daily wellness offerings—yoga, meditation, restorative sessions—balance the festival’s energy, while optional excursions invite guests to explore the region’s coastline, desert landscapes, and ecological wonders.
Guests seeking deeper access can opt for Empyrean or Super Empyrean VIP packages, which include early entry, dedicated viewing areas, exclusive merchandise, and intimate gatherings with Empire Of The Sun’s Emperor Steele, offering a rare window into the symbolic universe and creative mythology that have defined the band’s worldbuilding.
Chrysalis isn’t just another destination festival—it is a fully imagined realm where sound, art, and landscape converge, inviting attendees to step into a world that blurs the line between performance and mythology. In a time of noise and distraction, Chrysalis offers a place to surrender, transform, and be carried into something new.
