Following the release of their latest album Silver Bleeds the Black Sun… and the first leg of their headline tour earlier this year—the band’s first since 2021—AFI have announced a second wave of North American dates, with support from Choir Boy. The 10-date run will see the band bring their electric live show to cities including Seattle, Vancouver, Albuquerque, Kansas City, Minneapolis, and more. Tickets are available for presale tomorrow, December 10th, with general on-sale beginning Friday, December 12th at 10 AM local time here.
Released in October via Run For Cover Records, Silver Bleeds the Black Sun… features singles “Behind the Clock,” “Holy Visions,” and “Ash Speck in a Green Eye.” Vocalist Davey Havok recently spoke with the podcast HardLore in a two-part series about the band’s decades-long tenure. AFI also appeared on the cover of Alternative Press in August, where Havok discussed the band’s evolution, the sonic direction of Silver Bleeds the Black Sun…, and his current listening habits with Editor-in-Chief Anna Zanes.
For over 30 years, AFI have thrived on reinvention. With each album, the band has challenged themselves—and their audience—by exploring new sounds and approaches while refusing to settle into a single genre. Silver Bleeds the Black Sun… continues this trajectory, marking a fresh chapter in the band’s storied career.
The goal of the album was to create a singular mood: dreamy, ethereal, and immersive. Drawing from deeply embedded influences in AFI’s musical DNA, the band brought these elements to the forefront, producing a record that feels both timeless and contemporary. Dark, otherworldly, yet grandiose and stately, the album is biting and beautiful in equal measure—familiar yet unlike any AFI record before it. On its significance, Havok explains, “‘Silver Bleeds the Black Sun…’ is a sonic manifestation of the struggle to reconcile existence in the godless, uncanny dystopia that is modern life.”
AFFrom their early days as a scrappy high school hardcore band in the early ‘90s (Answer That and Stay Fashionable, Very Proud of Ya, Shut Your Mouth and Open Your Eyes), to their turn-of-the-century dark melodic punk reinvention (Black Sails in the Sunset, The Art of Drowning), through mainstream breakthroughs in the early 2000s (Sing the Sorrow, Decemberunderground), and later alternative rock evolution (Crash Love, Burials, The Blood Album, Bodies), AFI have consistently evolved while staying true to their vision. Their fearless approach to creativity and self-expression has allowed them to remain a defining force in alternative music for more than three decades. Listen to Silver Bleeds the Black Sun…
