redveil, the 21-year-old musical prodigy redefining the boundaries of modern rap and soul-infused hip-hop, unveils his fourth studio album, sankofa—a deeply personal and spiritually rich project shaped by reflection, ancestry, and emotional growth. Drawing its name from a Ghanaian proverb meaning “it is not taboo to go back for what you have forgotten,” the album serves as redveil’s most vulnerable and introspective work to date.

The release features the previously shared singles “brown sugar” featuring Smino, “mini me,” and “lone star” with Grammy-nominated vocalist Carolyn Malachi. Alongside the album, redveil also unveils a new visual for the track “time”, directed by Andrew Kim, bringing the project’s themes to life through a cinematic, dreamlike lens.

sankofa has been in development since redveil was 17, evolving into its fullest form after his move to California in 2024. Immersed in the creative atmosphere and live performances across Los Angeles, he found a deeper connection to his roots, identity, and emotional truth. “I found comfort and acceptance when I found more ways to appreciate the beauty of all of the parts of where I come from; whether they’re good or bad or pretty or not,” he shares. “You can always be the person you want to be, but you also can’t run away from who you truly are and what you come from.”

Across the album’s narrative, redveil confronts faith, family history, love, regret, and personal evolution, channeling these themes into a warm yet haunting palette of soul, rap, and jazz-inspired textures. His longtime creative partner Tyler Shuler helps expand the album’s world visually, weaving in motifs like Rosie, a ghostly figure styled after the early 1900s, and symbols tied to the album’s namesake.

True to his roots, redveil once again handles all production himself, but this time embraces a more open, collaborative approach. Working with talents such as Mikey Freedom Hart (Lana Del Rey, Blood Orange), Smino, and an array of session musicians, he enriches the sonic depth of the project, blending organic instrumentation with his signature emotional clarity.

Early next year, redveil brings sankofa to the stage with his biggest headline run yet: the sankofa tour, launching February 11, 2026. The 27-date North American tour—featuring rising artist Chenayder as support—will hit major cities including New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Atlanta, and Toronto. Known for his electrifying performances, from his breakout Camp Flog Gnaw 2023 set to his first sold-out headline tour, redveil now steps into the next evolution of his live presence.

Following the success of his acclaimed 2022 project learn 2 swim, hailed by Pitchfork as evidence of “a new rap star to watch,” redveil continues to ascend as one of hip-hop’s most honest and forward-thinking young voices. With sankofa, he delivers a body of work that embraces vulnerability, honors heritage, and redefines what it means to grow while still holding on to where you came from.

Listen to sankofa, watch the new “time” visual, and stay tuned for more from redveil as he enters this transformative new era.
