Rising Irish electronic duo SX2 are set to release their new EP POWDER! on 23rd January via Disco Halal, marking the duo’s boldest statement yet. The EP showcases their evolution into a vivid, psychedelic club sound rooted in live instrumentation, hands-on production, and raw energy. Pre-orders for POWDER! are now available.
“The POWDER! EP really kicks open the door to the psychedelic club sound we’ve always loved. Some of these tracks are among our earliest work — tunes we never thought we’d actually release. We get bored by club music that follows all the rules, so this EP is our most hands-on project yet. We pushed into guitars, synths, live recording, anything to give the tracks that real human feel. It’s a sign of where SX2 is heading next: live performance,” the duo explains.
To introduce the project, SX2 have released the title track ‘POWDER!’, an indie dance anthem fusing post-punk grit with soaring choruses. The track features Glen Brady, vocalist and producer behind Def Nettle, whose career includes collaborations with Dolores O’Riordan (The Cranberries), R.E.M., and Andy Rourke (The Smiths).
“Glen is an absolute legend. We were connected a few years back, and after binging the latest Def Nettle album, we knew we had to reach out. ‘POWDER!’ came together fast. It’s a statement track — bright lights and late nights, ripped jeans and white lines — a full overload of body, brain, and spirit,” says SX2.
Brothers Clive and Scott Sullivan from Waterford, Ireland, formed SX2 in 2017, moving their sets from bedroom sessions to club floors. The duo quickly earned a reputation in Ireland’s underground scene, holding a monthly residency at Electric Avenue, hosting parties under their side project Ruze, and closing festival sets at Electric Picnic and All Together Now.
Their releases have received support from genre-defying artists including Keinemusik, John Digweed, Moscoman, and Dave Seaman, cementing SX2 as boundary-pushers who refuse to conform to any single scene or sound.
With POWDER!, SX2 invite listeners into their next chapter — a sonic world built for the stage, the sweat, and the shared experience of live performance.
