Portland-based producer FENRA continues to expand his immersive sonic universe with his sophomore single “DEEPCUT”, arriving November 7, 2025, via 6x Records. The release follows his dreamy debut single “COFFEE”, which premiered on Magnetic Magazine, who praised his sound as “a dreamy composition where pitched-down vocals, hammered dulcimer, woozy atmospherics, and weightless pads converge into an ambient-downtempo reverie.”

Offering a deeper look into his forthcoming debut EP Delusional — set for release November 28, 2025“DEEPCUT” was mastered by Aneek Thapar, whose credits include Rival Consoles and Max Cooper, underscoring the project’s meticulous attention to detail and emotional depth.

Born in Santa Rosa, California and now based in Portland, Oregon, FENRA (the alias of producer B Laws) grew up surrounded by art and first discovered his passion for harmony through church hymns sung with his grandmother. After teaching himself guitar at 14 and later touring internationally with bands across the U.S., Europe, and Asia, he has since evolved his artistry into a new solo direction — one that balances introspection with rhythmic exploration.

Drawing inspiration from Caribou, Four Tet, Floating Points, Bonobo, and DJ Koze, alongside the minimalist influence of Philip Glass and the soulful resonance of Gloria Ann Taylor, FENRA bridges the cinematic and the personal in his production.

On “DEEPCUT,” he crafts a masterfully layered track defined by restless movement and patient revelation. The song unfolds through warped synth melodies, shuffling percussion, and airy, fluttering atmospherics, eventually coalescing into an entrancing groove. A playful bassline emerges near the halfway point, grounding the track’s ethereal textures with subtle momentum.

‘DEEPCUT’ opens with a skewed synth melody over strings and atmospheric textures, building tension slowly before revealing its full shape,” says FENRA. “It’s one of the most energetic tracks on the EP, but I wanted it to take its time — the bassline doesn’t arrive until almost three minutes in, when the track finally locks into place.

With DEEPCUT,” FENRA continues to define his distinctive sound — one that merges emotional storytelling with electronic sophistication, offering a glimpse into an artist poised to make a lasting mark on the global downtempo landscape.
