A Berlin-born producer and live performer, Paul Kalkbrenner has spent over two decades shaping modern techno. Emerging from the underground scene of the 1990s, he distinguished himself early on by performing live sets composed entirely of his own productions. His starring role in the film Berlin Calling and its enduring anthem “Sky & Sand” became cultural touchstones, propelling him to international acclaim. Rejecting the traditional DJ format, he built a career around authentic, immersive live experiences that fuse sonic precision with emotional storytelling.
Having performed on monumental stages — including Tomorrowland and the 25th anniversary ceremony of the fall of the Berlin Wall — Kalkbrenner has continually expanded the emotional and creative scope of techno.
