French DJ, producer, and multi-visionary artist François X unveils the concluding chapter of his two-part EP, The Skin Between Us, out October 31st via his acclaimed XX LAB imprint.
Where Part I explored heritage and inner tension, Part II sharpens the focus—two tracks that embody clarity, intention, and the lived experience of techno. Rather than closing the story, this chapter refines it, presenting techno not as abstraction but as something deeply human—rooted in memory, emotion, and embodiment.
Taken together, the diptych forms François X’s most personal and introspective body of work to date. The vinyl edition unites both parts into a single artifact—tension and clarity pressed into one, symbolizing the duality that defines the project’s core.
As with all of François X’s work, the EP exists between worlds. Grounded in the legacy of Black American dance music yet shaped by European club culture, it refuses separation—allowing both influences to reverberate and fuse as one.
Part II distills that fusion into two definitive statements. “Before I Knew The World” is immersive and gravitational, guided by resonant kicks and atmospheric pads that pull the listener inward. “In Memory Of” contrasts with direct, knight-like precision—its percussive drive balanced by emotional tenderness, affirming rather than confronting.
“My identity, like my sound, is hybrid,” François X shares. “This project is an introspective collage of who I am—an echo of the lineage I come from, shaped by solitude, tension, and the poetry of the night.”
Emerging from the Parisian underground, François X rose as a resident at Concrete, defining a sound that bridges groove-led techno with experimental depth. His performances at Berghain, fabric, Awakenings, Melt Festival, and more have cemented his reputation as a boundary-pushing force. As a producer, he’s appeared on influential imprints like MDR, BPitch Control, Exhale, and fabric, while his debut album Irregular Passion (2018) remains a touchstone of emotionally resonant techno.
More than a release, The Skin Between Us is a meditation on belonging—to a scene, a lineage, and the self. François X doesn’t seek to define it—he embodies it, creating techno that remembers, resists, and speaks in its own eternal language.
