Building on the momentum of his acclaimed single “The Situation” with Mad Professor and Yolanda Sargeant, hip-hop storyteller, broadcaster, and curator Odario unveils his next chapter with “Double Up.” The track marks another collaboration with UK dub legend Mad Professor and Toronto producer Chaix, merging the raw poetry of hip-hop with the deep, analog textures of dub. The result is a sound that feels both timeless and forward-looking, rooted in authenticity and creative evolution.
With his forthcoming album Good Things Take Time arriving in early 2026, Odario continues to position himself at the intersection of two musical worlds that have defined his journey. Produced by Chaix, mixed by longtime collaborator Tim Abraham, and mastered by João Carvalho, “Double Up” stands as a declaration of Odario’s growth and a tribute to the dub culture that shaped his artistry.
Born in Guyana and raised in Winnipeg, Odario emerged as a trailblazer in the city’s early hip-hop scene before moving to Toronto, where he has since thrived across multiple disciplines. As a founding voice of the genre-blending band Grand Analog, he has spent nearly two decades crafting music that bridges jazz, funk, reggae, and hip-hop. His journey has taken him across North America and Europe, with performances at SXSW, The Reeperbahn Festival, and The Great Escape, and music placements in over 80 films, television shows, and global campaigns.
Beyond performance, Odario is also known for hosting CBC Music’s Afterdark, where his smooth delivery and deep curatorial insight have made him a trusted voice in late-night radio. His artistic path reflects a lifelong dedication to storytelling—one that connects his early rhymes in Winnipeg to sessions recorded at Mad Professor’s Ariwa Studios in South London.
“In my music, I’ve always wanted to bridge the sound of my upbringing with where I’m headed,” shares Odario. “Double Up is personal—it merges the reggae and dub I grew up with through my father’s records and the hip-hop culture that shaped me as a writer. It feels like I’m standing in both worlds at once, finally connecting the dots.”
He continues, “Working with Mad Professor is like studying at the highest level. Every time we’re in the studio, I’m reminded that analog sound carries a soul of its own. Double Up is about growth, freedom, and doubling down on the promises I’ve made to myself as an artist.”
Throughout the track, Odario’s lyrics echo themes of resilience and renewal: “One for the money, yes uh, two for the growth / Three for that freedom ringing high to the slopes.” Later, he contemplates legacy and purpose: “They say you might die twice, but only live once – I double down.” His verses capture a mature, self-assured tone—reflective yet confident, grounded yet ambitious.
To celebrate the release, Odario will join Mad Professor on a four-date eastern Canadian tour this October, with stops at Hamilton’s Bridgeworks (October 9), Toronto’s Lee’s Palace (October 10), Montreal’s Ausgang Plaza (October 11), and Quebec City’s L’Anti (October 12).
Following a strong run of showcases earlier this year tied to “The Situation,” the upcoming tour sets the stage for Odario’s full-length project Good Things Take Time in 2026. As “Double Up” reaches audiences this fall, Odario continues to carve his place in Canadian music—where hip-hop and dub collide, and where his voice stands as a testament to persistence, growth, and creative unity.
