To celebrate the 20th anniversary of his cult classic debut album We Have Sound, multi-instrumentalist and creative trailblazer Tom Vek has released We Have Sound Remixed via StrataSonic Records. The 10-track project reimagines the influential album in its original order, giving new life to one of the records credited with pioneering indie electronic music in the mid-2000s.
The remix collection is led by standout singles from Dave Bayley (Glass Animals), Everything Everything, and IS TROPICAL, with additional contributions from Gus Unger-Hamilton (alt-J), Baths, Porij, and more. Each artist was hand-selected by Vek himself, chosen for the way their own sonic identities trace back to the genre-hopping, DIY spirit of his original release.
First unveiled in 2005, We Have Sound quickly earned a reputation as a groundbreaking fusion of guitar-driven rock, DIY electronica, and sharp-edged pop. Its influence has endured over two decades, inspiring a new wave of alternative acts. Dave Bayley of Glass Animals described the record as “one of several responsible for us going on to make our music,” while Gus Unger-Hamilton of alt-J called his participation in the project “a true privilege.”
