Fresh off a festival and sold-out European headline tour this summer, Montell Fish’s alter ego dj gummy bear unveils details of his highly anticipated mixtape, The Spirit Still Remains (Purgatory), set for release on October 31st. The project embodies the moniker as a sandbox for limitless creativity, freedom, and experimentation—allowing Montell Fish to explore electronic, house, ambient, and experimental soundscapes without boundaries.
Coinciding with the announcement, dj gummy bear shares “Ostentatious,” a shimmering new single featuring rising British musician John Glacier. Blending lush, transportive production with airy vocals from Montell Fish and Glacier’s smooth rap delivery, the track offers an intimate yet expansive listening experience. The haunting video, directed by Jared Hogan, provides a cinematic glimpse into the remnants of a nightlong party, starring both artists.
“‘Purgatory’ refers to the space in between—the liminal moments we experience during transition or when stuck between heaven and hell,” says Montell Fish. “This is where dj gummy bear lives—a place to explore sound without judgment.”
2025 has been a prolific year for Montell Fish, with releases spanning dance (“i saw you in my dream”), trap (“Same Shit” with Murda Beatz and BKTHERULA), and intimate acoustic work (Days Are Getting Shorter). His The Dream Deer Tour saw sold-out shows across Australia, festival performances in North America and Europe, and headline sets in Warsaw, Vienna, and Zurich.
The Spirit Still Remains (Purgatory) arrives October 31st, with “Ostentatious” available now on all streaming platforms.
