Global house phenom Francis Mercier continues his prolific run on Insomniac Records with “Elegibo”, a modern reinterpretation of the world anthem originally created by Relight Orchestra, Brazilian artist DJ Andrea, and legendary Grammy-nominated vocalist Margareth Menezes.
Mercier infuses the classic with his signature afro house sensibilities, weaving Menezes’ timeless Portuguese topline and ecstatic vocal chants into a driving blend of tribal percussion, brooding piano chords, and shimmering synth layers. The original “Elegibo” reached the #1 spot on the Billboard Music World Chart, and Mercier’s 2025 version both honors that heritage and propels the anthem toward today’s global dancefloors.
The single arrives in the wake of Mercier’s “Sauti” (Remixes) package and his widely acclaimed mashup “Sauti vs. Diplomatico” with ElGrandeToto, Faul & Wad, and the African Children’s Choir. Both releases united audiences across borders, amassing millions of streams while affirming Mercier’s ability to bridge cultures through sound. With “Elegibo”, he extends that momentum by connecting Brazilian roots to contemporary afro house energy.
Reflecting on the release, Francis Mercier shared: “This is my official follow-up to Sauti, and I couldn’t be more excited to work with the legendary Brazilian voice of Margareth Menezes. I wanted to bring a new Sauti-inspired composition to the world that had a Brazilian flavor. The release also coincides with Mercier’s international Neverending Summer Tour, spanning more than 33 dates across the United States, Canada, Switzerland, Germany, Portugal, India, France, and the Netherlands, alongside his celebrated Solèy residency at Club Chinois in Ibiza.
