Flamingosis and Denver-based live instrumental duo Diastrata are set to release their collaborative album Sunlight Daydream on September 12 via Philos Records. The project marks Flamingosis’ first release with the label and extends his creative partnership with guitarist Drew Birch and keyboardist Ian Gilley.
Blending Flamingosis’ signature sample-rich, retro-funk production with Diastrata’s lush instrumentation—guitar, bass, keys, and synths—the album delivers a sound that’s warm, layered, and musically refined.
The lead track and title single, “Sunlight Daydream,” dropped in early July, setting the tone with golden-hour grooves and melodic finesse. From the breezy charm of “Be What You Wanna Be” to the sun-drenched textures of “Artificial Love” (out August 15), the album balances nostalgic ease with rhythmic intricacy. Deeper cuts like “Bonus Code” showcase the group’s groove-forward, musically complex side, all while maintaining a sense of lightness and flow that makes the project an effortless listen.
Designed for summer days and late-night drives, Sunlight Daydream reflects the organic chemistry built between the artists through years of shared stages and studio sessions. The result is a record that feels timeless, transportive, and rich in tone—an ideal blend of energy and soul.
The album arrives with a 12” translucent orange vinyl release through Philos Records. Supporting visuals include a music video for “Artificial Love” created by 3D artist David Mellor (@Mellomograph), along with a Denver pop-up event during release week. The campaign culminates in a live show at The Mishawaka on September 19, featuring Flamingosis and SunSquabi, with Diastrata opening.
A celebration of synergy, season, and sonic color, Sunlight Daydream offers a lush and uplifting soundtrack for listeners who crave summer music with depth and vibrance.
