Today, Big Wild (aka Jackson Stell) shares his most dynamic and personal project to date: his vibrant new album Wild Child, out now via Giant Music. Written and produced primarily by Stell alongside a close-knit group of collaborators, Wild Child explores themes of renewal, resilience, and connection to the earth while embracing the fearless curiosity of his inner child.
After 2022’s The Efferusphere, Stell craved the spark and joy that first drew him to music. That search led him to reconnect with a creative alter ego he calls Wild Child—a superhero-like embodiment of playfulness, imagination, and wonder. The result is an album that trades electronic foundations for a lush sonic palette inspired by indie-pop, psychedelic rock, and the colorful textures of ’60s music. Live instrumentation and genre-bending arrangements give the LP a freewheeling energy that captures the exuberance of creating without constraint.
Big Wild on Wild Child:
“Wild Child, my inner child superhero, fights back against the pressures to grow up by challenging what it actually means. In the end, maturity isn’t about repressing your inner child—it’s about keeping it alive despite all of life’s challenges. Through all the bullshit we live through, we never stop believing in a bit of magic.”
Alongside the album, Big Wild unveils its focus track “Stardust”—a soaring, cinematic anthem that encapsulates the project’s themes of curiosity and cosmic wonder.
This fall, Big Wild will take Wild Child on the road for his “Wild Child Tour” across North America. Kicking off September 4 at Marathon Music Works in Nashville, TN, the run will include stops at Mission Ballroom in Denver, CO (Sept 27), The Wiltern in Los Angeles, CA (Oct 4), and wraps October 11 in Troutdale, OR. Shallou will join as support, and $1 from every ticket will benefit Ethos Music Center, a nonprofit providing affordable music education to thousands of students across Oregon.
From the expansive opener “Farewell” to collaborations with Phantogram (“Too Loud”), iDA HAWK (“Universe”), and Twen (“Anymore”), Wild Child shines with bold color and emotional resonance. Whether reveling in exuberant grooves or delivering moments of tender reflection, Big Wild’s latest body of work stands as an invitation to rediscover joy, freedom, and connection through music.
