Two words, one name: loud, louder — RayRay. The purple-haired powerhouse has returned with “Hot In This,” a blistering hard techno track packed with pounding kicks, distorted basslines, and her own bratty rap delivery. Out August 22 on Dim Mak, the single marks the beginning of her bold new era and serves as the lead cut from her forthcoming EP, Currently On Earth.
RayRay describes the track as more than just a floor-shaking banger:
“‘Hot In This’ is the ignition point for my new EP. It’s a statement of self-expression. I produced it to push boundaries — heavy drums, distorted textures, and cheeky, fearless lyrics that reflect exactly where I am right now: grounded, fiery, and unapologetically myself. This track sets the tone for the whole project: a raw exploration of identity, chaos, and control, all told through sound and energy. I’m beyond excited to finally share this new body of work with the world.”
Born and raised in Taipei, RayRay has built her reputation as one of electronic music’s most versatile and fearless innovators. She first broke out as a Red Bull Thre3style champion before hitting the studio with heavyweights like Skrillex, Yellow Claw, and Steve Aoki. Since joining Barong Family in 2019, she’s delivered a trilogy of interstellar EPs — Purple Alien (2018), Alien Invasion (2019), and Alien Mutation (2021) — solidifying her as one of the label’s leading artists.
Her catalog spans an impressive roster of labels including Spinnin’ Records, Protocol Recordings, Dim Mak, and Tiësto’s Musical Freedom. Even during the pandemic, RayRay kept momentum alive with a Twitch live-stream residency and landed a spot on Musical Freedom Radio on SiriusXM. She also scored 3rd place in DJ Mag’s Best of China Awards, proving she’s one of the hardest-working women in the scene.
The years since have only amplified her reach. RayRay has played iconic stages like Tomorrowland, Ultra Taiwan, and EDC China, alongside performances at clubs like Bootshaus, Warp, and Space Plus. Her critically acclaimed album Unearthly World and its deluxe edition were supported by sold-out live shows, while collaborations like Lasergun with Yellow Claw, Pump It Up with Moksi, and Where Are My Friends with Sihk showcased her sonic diversity.
2023 was a whirlwind, with RayRay completing three tours, performing 65 shows in 16 countries, and releasing nine singles. She also received a 1001Tracklists Future of Dance award, cementing her influence in the global dance scene. Now fully based in the United States, she’s already stormed into 2024 with singles like To The Beat with Dyro and Feel It with Sikdope, plus a U.S. tour alongside JVNA and a stop at EDC Mexico.
With “Hot In This” setting the stage for her upcoming EP, RayRay is once again proving that she’s unstoppable — a fearless Alien Queen ready to dominate dance floors worldwide.
