Emerging duo Z3LLA returns to Dim Mak with their fiery new single “Pick Up The Tempo,” dropping July 3rd. Following the success of their progressive anthem “Origami” in May, the duo takes a darker, more provocative turn with this techno-tinged dance-pop track tailor-made for late-night dancefloors.
Fueled by razor-sharp synths, gritty basslines, and pulsing warehouse-ready rhythms, “Pick Up The Tempo” blurs the lines between infectious pop and underground club energy. Vocals shimmer with seductive urgency, layered over a beat that drives like a lust-filled adrenaline rush.
“‘Pick Up The Tempo’ is a song with pop vocal elements but an infectious darker electronic sound for us,” shares Z3LLA. “It’s as if Tate McRae made a song for a 2am warehouse rave. This song screams lust to us—and that’s what we were aiming to convey with the lyrics, melodies, vocal production, and track.”
The release arrives just as Z3LLA kicks off Phase 2 of their tour, which has already included standout performances in NYC and Cleveland—including a show alongside Galantis, whom they previously supported at Brooklyn Mirage. The duo made waves by debuting “Pick Up The Tempo” with live vocals for the first time at their Cleveland date, marking a milestone moment for the project.
“Getting to sing it live as the very first live vocals experience at a Z3LLA show was a surreal moment!” they added. “We can’t wait to keep that energy going and perform it again, along with more new music at select upcoming Phase 2 stops. We’re especially excited for Breakaway Festival this fall in Juj’s hometown of Philadelphia.”
