Iranian-born, California-based producer and DJ Ardalan is back on home turf with the release of his bold new single “Drip”, out now on Dirtybird as part of the label’s 20th anniversary celebration. The track features Goldie Gold of The Federation and rising Bay Area act Sharpness, delivering a slick, bass-heavy tribute to the hyphy sound that shaped a generation of West Coast dance and hip-hop culture.

Created during a Dirtybird writing camp in 2023, “Drip” represents a full-circle moment for Ardalan, who made his Dirtybird debut 15 years ago. Blending the gritty swagger of early 2000s minimal hip-hop with grimy house and Bay Area bounce, the track pays homage to a regional sound that has long informed the label’s boundary-pushing aesthetic.

The production on “Drip” is all groove and attitude—polished but raw—with Ardalan’s signature blend of funk, freakiness, and precision. Meanwhile, Goldie Gold and Sharpness deliver commanding verses full of lyrical play and punch, bouncing between clever bars and live-delay vocal effects that keep the energy thick and the vibe authentically West Coast.

Born in Tehran, Ardalan spent his formative years between Iran and California, ultimately becoming one of Dirtybird’s foundational artists. He entered the scene as a fan—attending early Dirtybird BBQs—before officially joining the roster with 2010’s “Mr. Spock” alongside Justin Martin. Over the years, he’s dropped standout projects like 2016’s Thunderdad and 2018’s Escapade with Walker & Royce, before leveling up with his 2019 debut album ‘Mr. Good’. Today, he remains a core figure within the Dirtybird community, continuing to innovate and represent the label’s left-of-center sound.

“Drip” drops during Flight Week, a packed schedule of parties and showcases celebrating Dirtybird’s 20-year legacy in its San Francisco hometown. The week will culminate in Back 2 Baysics, the label’s collaborative event with Another Planet Entertainment at Embarcadero Plaza, spotlighting the Bay’s deep roots in underground culture and Dirtybird’s ever-growing influence.

Stream Ardalan’s “Drip” now on all major platforms, and stay connected with Dirtybird for exclusive updates on new releases, merch drops, and upcoming events like Dirtybird Campout x Northern Nights this July.
