Dutch artist Martijn ‘Tienus’ Konijnenburg, better known as Goldkimono, has unveiled his third studio album, ‘This One’s On The House,’ out now via his independent label Camp Kimono Records. Following the success of standout singles “Lifetime” and the funky, feel-good title track, the full project sees Goldkimono step into his most vulnerable and introspective space yet—delivering a record rooted in late-night honesty, personal growth, and a deep love for genre-bending grooves.
Written largely at his kitchen table during quiet nights of reflection, the album was brought to life with the help of celebrated producer Tim Bran, known for his work with London Grammar and Birdy. With sonic nods to Talking Heads, The Police, Paul Simon, Talk Talk, and 10cc, the album is a rich tapestry of analog textures, philosophical lyrics, and unmistakable soul.
“When I first started as Goldkimono, everything felt like an experiment—learning to let go of rules, trusting instinct, and leaning into sound as a feeling more than a formula,” says Goldkimono. “This new album feels like the natural next step, but deeper. It still has that looseness, that late-night spirit, but there’s more perspective in it now. It’s more lived-in.”
Thematically, ‘This One’s On The House’ dives into cycles—creative, emotional, and societal—and the act of consciously breaking them. Tracks like the trumpet-charged opener “Got a Long Way to Go” offer a hopeful lens on the chaos of modern life, while the vibrant title track delivers funk and jazz-laced commentary on conformity, wrapped in slick electro-soul.
Elsewhere, Goldkimono explores the surreal edges of connection on “I’m in Heaven,” channels heartache through shimmering guitar lines on “Wynona,” and delivers a groovy, anti-distraction manifesto with “Lifetime”—a standout track that invites listeners to be fully present in a world of constant digital noise.
In the album’s second half, the introspective momentum continues. The flute-led “21st Century” calls for reconnection in a disoriented world, while “Do You Remember” reflects on the tension between childhood wonder and adult disillusionment. Songs like “Look at Her” and “The Only Place That I Know” bring a warm, reflective vibe that champions self-definition and inner peace. The album closes with “We Love It,” a soaring new wave-inspired celebration of joy over fear—a powerful, closing affirmation of life’s brighter choices.
At its core, ‘This One’s On The House’ is a project about being open, curious, and human. As Goldkimono puts it: “I don’t need people to hear my songs and think, ‘I get him.’ I hope they hear them and think, ‘Maybe I get myself a little more.’” The album doesn’t shout, but it resonates. It doesn’t preach, but it offers presence. It’s a subtle reminder that sometimes the most powerful shift happens in a single moment of clarity.
‘This One’s On The House’ is out now on all streaming platforms via Camp Kimono Records.
