Independent Los Angeles-based label StrataSonic Records continues to carve its niche in the electronic underground with today’s digital release of a powerful new remix EP based on ANiML’s debut mini-album Star Walk. The physical vinyl edition will follow on June 20, further solidifying the label’s commitment to high-concept presentation and sonic innovation.
The remix EP brings together a trio of heavyweight underground artists—Seth Troxler, Mathew Jonson, and Galcher Lustwerk—to reimagine key tracks from Star Walk, originally released this past winter. Each producer offers a distinctive reinterpretation, reframing ANiML’s genre-fluid originals into new dimensions for both dancefloors and deep listening.
Seth Troxler, the legendary Detroit-born innovator known for his psychedelic and boundary-pushing club sets, injects “Breather” with hypnotic energy. He swaps the track’s smoky trip-hop atmosphere for glitchy textures and warped low-end propulsion, forging a hallucinatory house-techno hybrid perfect for late-night sets.
Mathew Jonson, a master of live hardware performance and cerebral techno minimalism, transforms “Baby D” into a cinematic slow-burner. His remix leans into ambient space and crystalline percussion, cultivating an immersive groove that builds patiently while radiating emotional depth.
Galcher Lustwerk, the NYC producer renowned for his fusion of deep house and hip-hop, flips “Bruv” into a noir-laced head-nodder. He reshapes the bassline with his signature laid-back flair, pairing it with crisp drums and a dusty, downtempo swing that oozes afterhours cool.
Together, these three distinct voices reinterpret ANiML’s vision without losing its exploratory essence, highlighting the richness of Star Walk through their singular perspectives.
This release also marks a major moment for StrataSonic Records, as the label continues building its identity as a home for genre-agnostic, concept-driven electronic music. Led by label president Jesse Rogg, StrataSonic has made it clear that sound is only part of the story. Each project is given its own “aesthetic world,” pairing audio with original visuals and encouraging boundary-pushing collaborations that dissolve the lines between music, design, and narrative.
With this remix EP, StrataSonic Records not only celebrates the artistry of ANiML and the remixers, but affirms its role as one of the most forward-thinking curators in today’s electronic scene.
