Heldeep label boss Oliver Heldens kicks off the year with his first release, “Let You Go,” a bold evolution of his signature sound. Blending Eurodance nostalgia with a high-energy old-school trance edge, the track delivers a powerful mix of emotion and intensity. The release comes just ahead of Heldens’ much-anticipated headline show at London’s O2 Academy Brixton on March 1, making it the perfect lead-in to an electrifying performance.
While the production of “Let You Go” hits with full force, Heldens takes the track even further by writing and recording the vocals himself. The song carries the weight of letting go while pushing toward something greater, creating a contrast between melancholic raw emotion and an unstoppable drive. Stepping into new creative territory, Heldens fuses feeling and fire, resulting in a track that’s both deeply personal and dancefloor-ready.
“‘Let You Go’ is a song I wrote about saying goodbye, letting a loved one go, and moving on,” says Heldens. “It originated in April last year after playing a show in Tokyo; the love and energy from the Japanese fans were overwhelming in a positive way. I was hyped after the show and jetlagged, so I couldn’t sleep. I ended up meditating, but instead of calming down, it put me in an ecstatic yet melancholic mood. Right after that, in the shower, I started riffing melodies in my head, inspired by one of my all-time favorite trance tracks, Chicane’s ‘Saltwater.’ One melody really stuck with me, so I recorded a voice note. The next day, I turned it into the first version, which I titled ‘Tokyo Shower Trance’ at the time. A few months later, after playing a HI-LO show in Chile and traveling to Lima, I came up with the lyrics, then recorded them in my hotel room in Vancouver. After refining them back in Amsterdam and adding vocoders and synths, it quickly became one of my favorite songs I’ve made in the last few years. Enjoy! :)”
Fans can catch Oliver Heldens on the road as he takes his high-energy sets to some of the biggest events worldwide, including Ultra Music Festival, EDC Mexico, Don’t Let Daddy Know (Romania and Chile), and Parookaville.
“Let You Go” is available March 7 on Heldeep.
