Marcus Schossow and Thomas Sagstad, known collectively as anamē, are set to embark on a new chapter with their upcoming album Hopes & Fears, slated for release in February 2025 via Anjunabeats. The duo, responsible for anthems like The Best Part (with Bien), Anywhere, and Gratitude (with Above & Beyond), have become synonymous with melodic house music, and Hopes & Fears promises to deepen their storytelling prowess while showcasing a more emotive, highly charged sound.
Reflecting on their journey, Thomas shares, “When we announced Beautiful World, we wanted to bring our audience along with the journey of writing the album. Anjuna trusted us to pull back the magician’s curtain on the album’s A&R, art, and marketing process. Those meet-ups, dinners, and drinks kept us sane on the road while away from our families and were equally inspiring and encouraging for what we’re doing.”
The album’s theme is an honest reflection of anamē’s global connections and personal reflections, balancing serious themes with an optimistic, lighter outlook. Drawing from their live project in 2024, where they ditched USBs in favor of live drum machines, keys, and vocals, Hopes & Fears promises to bring their dynamic, emotionally charged performances into the studio.
A key collaborator on the album is Lydmor, the Danish pop artist whose soulful vocals were central to their previous work on Beautiful World. Jenny Rossander (Lydmor) has made a name for herself with five albums and sold-out shows across Scandinavia, and her poetic approach to songwriting continues to be a driving force in anamē’s creative process. The album’s first track, Hero, is a poignant tale of one-sided love, showcasing Lydmor’s unique lyrical style.
In addition to Lydmor, Welt, a rising Swedish singer and songwriter, lends her emotive vocals to It Can Be Better Now. The track, which has already made waves during anamē’s performance at Anjuna Group Therapy 600 in Mexico, sets the tone for the album’s hopeful yet introspective themes.
Following the release of Hopes & Fears, anamē will embark on a North American DJ tour in Spring 2025, bringing their powerful new sound to audiences across the continent.
