Toronto-based techno innovators Weston & Teston have joined forces with vocalist Phorie for their latest haunting single, Another Dream of You, featured on NIGHTMODE‘s NIGHT DRIVE Vol. 2 compilation. This powerful track captures the emotional turbulence of lingering attachments, exploring the unsettling sensation of searching for a lost loved one in dreams.
Phorie‘s spectral, sorrow-laden vocals intertwine seamlessly with Weston & Teston’s pounding kicks, roaring synths, and cosmic pads. Together, they create a haunting blend of techno energy and haunting melodies, crafting a soundscape ideal for both introspective late-night drives and intense warehouse sets.
Building on their transition from progressive house to a darker, harder-hitting techno, Weston & Teston showcase their evolution with this release. Reflecting on the collaboration, Phorie shares, “Once I heard Weston & Teston’s side of the track, I knew the story I had to tell. I was in my own limbo, reflecting on a personal loss and writing directly to them.” Her ethereal voice, layered over the track’s relentless beat and hissing hi-hats, amplifies the raw emotion embedded in the music.
The track follows Weston & Teston’s breakout success with Feels Like Home in Rocket League and the gritty single PORNSTAR, which gained support from artists like Danny Avila, Jake Ryan, and EXTSY. “Another Dream of You” marks an important milestone for the duo, who describe it as “one of our favorite tracks we’ve created so far.”
For Phorie, this release serves as a bridge to her upcoming debut album, Darksil, set for late 2024. Known for her unique, emotionally-charged vocal style, Phorie brings a deeply personal touch, inviting listeners into the space between heartache and hope.
