by The Freaks - Staff

Kryder – ‘Wish’

“For me, 2022 is about inspiring and motivating others within my role as an artist and storyteller. I want people to feel something when they play my and I want them to connect with the message behind the song [‘Wish‘]. By merging the melodic and emotional textures in a cinematic, but energetic way, I hope to awaken the soul and vibrate the spirit!”

Giuseppe Ottaviani x April Bender – ‘Something I Can Dream About’

Purposeful of tempo it may be, but there is a markedly house-like roll to ‘Something I Can Dream About‘s drums, which Giuseppe Ottaviani brilliantly contrasts with industrial FX and moodsome note progressions. Further in, he establishes an even more filmic centre of gravity to its production, with prowling bass and a subtle, but sharply effective piano line. Adding no end to the track’s emotive depth, April Bender words feel like they’ve been informed by experiences lived, something born out by her authenticity of delivery.

Talla 2XLC – ‘Serenity’

Get hyped for legendary trance , Talla 2XLC’s latest uplifter — ‘Serenity‘. To celebrate this incredible release, the single is available exclusively on Beatport prior to its release on all streaming platforms. This one is truly a trance weapon guaranteed to bang the dancefloor!

Eelke Kleijn – ‘Transmission’

Transmission‘ has been released on Eelke Kleijn’s own DAYS like NIGHTS label under the Armada Music umbrella. Helmed by a driving bassline, glowing pads and hypnotic pluck patterns, this high-energy production is designed to send the senses into overdrive and give any club crowd the thrill of a lifetime.

3VERYNIGHT – ‘Get Your Body Movin’

“‘Get Your Body Movin‘ includes a lot of different elements you typically wouldn’t hear together on a song. Being a piano player and vinyl DJ since I was 15 years old, I always took a liking to new styles of music and genres. Leaning toward golden age hip hop growing up, and being raised all over the world, I tried to incorporate those elements into my music to give it a unique sound that still has that soulful grit to it. Being a crate digger, I always gravitate toward vocals and vocal chops because I learned to produce on an Akai MPC drum machine initially. I want to make music so people can dance, work out, party and also cruise down the street to. The main purpose with ‘Get Your Body Movin’ was simple… to GET YOUR BODY MOVIN.”

CamelPhat – ‘Silenced’

Multi-platinum producers CamelPhat have unveiled their club-ready new single ‘Silenced‘. Destined for dancefloors and festivals alike, the track is out now and is yet another master-crafted display of CamelPhat’s signature melodic sound.

ARTY – ‘Who Do You Love (feat. Rozzi)’

Detailing a crossroads of love and desire, ARTY’s brand-new release on Armada Music hits the sweet spot between club suitability and pop appeal with pinpoint precision. Emotionally carried by the uplifting piano chords, the powerful beat drops and Rozzi’s irresistible vocal presence, ‘Who Do You Love‘ instantly lights a fire in listeners’ hearts.

D72 – ‘Switch Play’

Not allowing itself to get pigeonholed into one single style or genre, D72’s debut release on Armind is as edgy and gritty as dance music gets. Armed with foreboding bass grinds, crude kick drums, piercing hi-hats and synth plucks that open up a new dimension, ‘Switch Play‘ shows exactly what its German creator is capable of.

Dom Dolla x Mansionair – ‘Strangers (Flight Facilities Remix)’

“About 4 years ago Dom Dolla turned a Flight Facilities song (Arty Boy) into a dance floor banger. So this year we tried to turn a Dom Dolla banger into a Flight Facilities song [‘Strangers‘].”

The Librarian – ‘Impulse / Vengeance’

Known for her innovative DJ sets and cultural influence as Bass Coast Festival’s co-founder and music programmer, Andrea Graham AKA The Librarian returns to the forefront of modern bass music with her forthcoming EP ‘miss u‘. A fusion of asymmetrical DnB and melodic techno, the second and final double-sided single ahead of ‘miss u’ comes by the way of ‘Impulse‘ and ‘Vengeance‘.

Felix Jaehn x The Stickman Project – ‘Rain In Ibiza (feat. Calum Scott)’

The tune immediately kicks off with Calum Scott’s textured vocal, quickly followed by a rising tension and a hefty bass drop. The propelling production is perfectly paired alongside a catchy beat, four-on-the-floor rhythm, and a larger-than-life ambiance. From start to finish, it audibly boasts an anthemic tone, leaving the listener in an entrancing daze and wanting even more from the triumvirate. Overall, Felix Jaehn and The Stickman Project’sRain In Ibiza‘ serves as a prime party track to ring in the new year, and also marks a stellar addition to all three artists’ flourishing back-catalogs.

Sebastian Mullaert – ‘Whispering Of Knives’

Built around the soundscape of one of Antwerp’s most high-end restaurants, Sebastian Mullaert’s Whispering Of Knives‘ soundtracks a delightful evening spent in The Jane. With three alternate versions from the same composer under different monikers, this release takes the concept of fine dining to a whole new level.

Chester Young – ‘Someone’

A climactic tech trance adventure, Chester Young is the Be Yourself hero in charge of saving the world faced with ‘Someone‘, attacking with a rasping synth melody where time is seemingly against him. Thankfully this won’t be the case as the Moscow-based producer keeps the dancefloor enthralled, the keys jumping from danger to danger and nailing the landing every time. The detached, haunted vocal broadcast from another dimension provides a moment of hushed contemplation, before Young resumes raving on the run at the heart of a futuristic universe.

Funk Cartel x Ultra Naté – ‘Supernatural (Remixes)’

Adding a final dose of fuel to their musical fire, legendary singer Ultra Naté and UK Funk Cartel close out their ‘Supernatural‘ campaign, dropping new from rising stars Antonio Kolic and Ray Sargent, as well as DJ-only boot ‘Supernatural On My Mind (Josh Peace x Freemasons)‘ and two Quentin Harris-produced ‘Supernatural (Black Stereo Faith Mix / Black Stereo Faith Dub)‘.

Holo – ‘In Limbo’

“This is the first track [‘In Limbo‘] I produced for this EP, and it set the tone in my mind for how I wanted the record to sound. It combines disco and pop samples, breakbeat drums and my own guitar and bass playing, and I remember thinking when writing it, ‘this shouldn’t work’. The bell at 1:04 is from a field recording of a Melbourne tram, and will be instantly recognisable if you’re from Melbourne! My favourite part of the track is the last minute or so, where the strings and choral parts sneak up and shift the mood from fun to something more melancholic – like how you might feel at the end of a party.”

ATTLAS – ‘Waterbug’

Ahead of ‘Carry It With You‘s March 11 release, ATTLAS debuts its first sonic offering, ‘Waterbug‘. A thematic overture setting the stage for the rest of his project, ‘Waterbug’ swelters with its rubato piano before plunging listeners right into the water. Masterfully crafting robust ambient soundscapes with progressive melodic notes, ‘Waterbug’ is deeply emotive in its composition.

CircoLoco Records x NEZ – ‘CLR 002′

The next offering from the Circoloco Records imprint (the collaborative record label project from Rockstar Games and nightlife icons CircoLoco) is a 3-track EP headed up by LA-based artist and producer, NEZ. Here his signature blend of Hip-Hop and House can be traced across the EP’s three heavy-hitting tracks, with a style synonymous with the Chicago-born artist. ‘CLR 002 also features guest appearances from Moodymann, ScHoolboy Q, and Gansta Boo.

24hrs – ‘Plus 1 (feat. Nasty C)’

24hrs (aka Twenty) has been grinding in the studio and honing in on his electronic sound. He has studied the scene closely while working on his authentic dance sound, and through this he truly has found a space that he loves, and one where he doesn’t want to be seen as just a topliner. ‘Plus 1‘ is just one small piece of the full puzzle that 24hrs has ready for the scene. Watch this space for  more releases and updates from the world of Twenty.

Ashton Adams – ‘HOV (feat. 100M’s)’

Canadian artist Ashton Adams joins forces with rap duo 100M’s for their new single ‘HOV‘, a catchy and hard-hitting dance-rap track with an equally hype music video featuring both of Ashton’s parents. Adams brings a seamless fusion of hip-hop and underground house style to his music. ‘HOV’ (which does play on a certain famous rapper’s nickname) showcases the best of today’s bass house music scene with the rhythm of the best hip-hop records. Largely composed of B-roll cuts, the accompanying music video allows the listener to take a peek into Ashton’s vision of having a good time, fusing underground house, urban music with main stage vibes, and experimenting with unique textures and sounds.

Becky Hill x Galantis – ‘Run’

“I’m so excited to release ‘Run‘ with Galantis. I wrote it with my best friend MNEK, whom I’ve been writing with for 10 years. The magic I felt when we first wrote my single ‘Losing‘ back in 2012, I still feel to this day when writing with him. I feel like every single I release has the potential to better the last one and this is no different, especially with Galantis featuring on the record, too. With their catalogue of hits with the likes of Little Mix and Years & Years, I’m very proud to be a part of another huge collaboration with them. This next phase of my artistry is an extension of me fully coming out as a popstar, but this time with a BRIT Award in hand!”
