Without a doubt, Decadence Arizona 2021 by Relentless Beats was the best iteration of any Decadence festival. With massive tented structures built to keep people warm during the final cold and wet nights of this year, there wasn’t a thing I would have changed. Multiple entry points for each stage, stunning visual effects, and blasting music with no sound-bleed between stages. The crew of Weird and Wonderful roamed the stages to provide their unique appearances, which added to the beauty and epicness of the event.
Huge names like Alison Wonderland, Kaskade, Marshmello, BIJOU, Excision, Dillon Francis, Alesso, and Fisher were on full display and dropped fire like there was no tomorrow. It was antagonizing to decide who to see, with so many great DJs playing. Luckily the stages were only a short walk apart, so if you were willing to get your steps in you could have conceivably seen everyone.
If you wanted to do something off the main stages, you had a slew of options. There were “chill” spots located throughout, usually in close proximity to heaters, where you could rest your feet. A roller rink was also available if you had the balance and showmanship for it, and many prizes and games were offered by vendors. The Jester’s Court and the Playhouse Silent Disco were also tossing tracks for those who wanted to get away from the crowds but stay close to the music. They showcased up-and-coming artists and provided them the opportunity to share their talents with all who would join.
While there weren’t as many food options as I would have liked, what was available was stellar. Street tacos, elote, and ramen were the highlights of the night, keeping me warm and providing the energy I needed to make it to 3AM. Also, something that isn’t really thought of until you really need it was the restroom situation. These were amply available on both sides of the festival, with waits no more than a handful of minutes max. Always important to know, especially when you are staying well hydrated.
