Enthralled. That was my first response to the phase 1 announcement of Seismic Dance Event 4.0. The fall edition of this three-day boutique festival – taking place November 12-14 in Austin, Texas – sends an enticing message with its lineup, offering an intimate and affordable alternative to Insomniac Events and European fests this season for the refined House and Techno sounds you love.
Starting with major names in the Techno community like Amelie Lens, Nina Kraviz, Ida Engberg and Pan-Pot – each of whom consistently delivers best-in-class beats – Seismic Dance Event is providing attendees a chance to get lost in the music with some of the most skilled DJs in the world right now. Seismic equally appeals to the House side with Mark Knight, Jaime Jones and Dom Dolla, to name just a few – making sure each flip to the House and Techno coin will be represented properly. Black Coffee stands out as one of my can’t-miss DJs on this lineup, as he’s truly one of a kind with his South African tribal house alongside the beautiful moments he creates for those on the dancefloor.
There will also be favorites like Solardo, Seth Troxler, Eats Everything, Patrick Topping, ANNA and Kyle Watson (another South African DJ who plays his own unique style), showing just how never-ending and always expanding House music really is. Combine that with acts who flirt between genres like Adriatique, Patrice Baumel and the ever-impressive Damian Lazarus, and you can treat the weekend like it’s a crash course on the
constantly evolving styles that represent House and Techno.
Many people are understandably nervous about the return to festival life, but RealMusic Events brings valuable experience to the table in producing a successful festival in the post-pandemic world. The May edition of Seismic Dance Event gave us a magnificent return to the kind of weekend music extravaganzas we so dearly missed for 15 months, and the fall Seismic whips up even more excitement thanks to its venue enhancements. The location remains the same as last time, but now The Concourse Project venue has officially been completed, where Seismic will feature three stages, over 50 international headliners, light exhibits and art installations across seven acres.
Friends who’ve already attended this festival give it rave reviews, figuratively and literally. A less-busy time of year with ideal temperatures, a crowd under 5,000 people, a welcoming community and a jaw-dropping selection of artists – that’s too much good to pass up if these DJs tickle your fancy. Seismic Dance Event presents such a variety with what they’ve already announced that by the end of the weekend, you’ll find not just that you had a killer time, but also that you were given a lesson on the directions House and Techno are headed both now and in the future.
Tickets start at $230 for a 3-day GA pass and $330 for VIP. Check out the full lineup below and we’ll see you on the dancefloor!
