French Electronic Duo Parallelle Share the Next Culturally Exploratory EP From Their Globetrotting “A Day In” Series.

French-born Amsterdam-based electronic duo Parallelle have been turning heads with their culturally inspired “A Day In” project, which explores sounds and scenes from around the world whilst aiming to emulate each location through many of its individual characteristics and signature instruments.

Following the first two releases, A Day In “Essaouira” and “Real de Catorce”, the duo now tackle a wider radius with the next release, celebrating several locations in their “Asia Pacific” edition. Captivating locations, accompanied by authentic feature artists on each track, Parallelle take us to Fiji, Java, Osaka, Bengaluru and Bangkok through varied genre mediums, including House, Minimal, Techno and even Breaks.

As has been the case with previous releases in the series, each track forms around Parallelle’s travels to a specific location, all of which have been filmed and documented throughout the process. In Fiji, they participate in a traditional Kava Ceremony in Navala Village before venturing upstream the rivers of Pacific Harbour to jam with the Sabeto Choir. Java met them with abundant flora, warm smiles, and endless temples as Indonesia’s courteous, cultured people introduced the duo to their heritage and taught them to play the iconic Gamelan.

Osaka took Parallelle to Minoo Park before they dived straight into the city center, recording the sounds of exquisite crafts, mouth-watering food and the many traditional instruments of Japan whilst jamming with TRA Innovation, who also feature on the track. Bengaluru offered the chance to explore the traditional South Indian Carnatic music with Chik Ballapur musicians playing Nadaswaram, Thavil (percussion), learning about the Yakshagana dancers, and much more before ending their journey in Bangkok, visiting a children’s music school and a nearby community village then taking on an exhilarating Thai Boxing training session before indulging in its famous street food culture and jamming with Thai artist duo Nisatiwa, who are also credited on the record.

If you’re looking for a snapshot of Asia Pacific with your eyes closed, vividly absorbing a fusion of all the cultural sounds and energy it offers, this latest installment of “A Day In” and Parallelle have it nailed.
