Ten years of Governors Ball is coming our way and we’re so incredibly excited! We were blown away for their fifth anniversary in 2015 with unreal headliners such as Deadmau5‘s firebird stage debut, Drake and songstress Lana Del Rey. Being the most epic Governors Ball yet, it’s safe to say the minds behind this amazing event, Founders, are about to outdo themselves. Coming back next year on June 5th – 7th, it’s already a no brainer that Governors Ball is a full send, so ahead and put in those vacation days now! You’ll be thanking us later.
The Governors Ball social media channels have been sending out clues on the lineup for the past week, and while we’re not exactly sure who will be headlining next year’s edition… a lot of the comments below these posts have us excited for what’s to come. With this special 10th anniversary the festival organizers have taken a lot into consideration of the issues that were expressed by you the fans and released updated festival policies. The most notable one is the new age policy. If you’re 18 or over, nothing has changed… although if you’re 17 and under you’re still doing great. Just be mindful to bring an adult 21 years of age or older that is a festival pass holder. Other changes include brand new VIP perks & programs, more water stations, and much more to be announced soon.
Governors Ball every year comes and goes, and much like New Year’s, it’s sentimental to New Yorkers. Artist’s have changed, the music we listen to and trends in the scene have changed, most importantly we’ve changed, although our love for music hasn’t. Starting as a small one stage festival on Governors Island, The Governors Ball has come a long way since their first edition. We’re excited to see what musical journey the next ten years takes us on!
