How you end your year and start the next really does set the pace for the whole year. And with New Year’s Eve 2019 marking the transition from the decade where the EDM bubble burst, DJs blew up and music festivals became the new experiential travel destinations; to the roaring onset of the 2020s, what better way to mark the occasion than a thrilling NYE fest?
After attending my first Decadence Colorado in 2015, festivals began to become an important part of my life. On NYE 2016, I evolved into the raver I am today as that year’s Decadence experience catapulted me to find myself and align with my direction forward. I did NYE 2017 in my hometown at a small event, and the following year was comparatively more grounded. I showed up in full force to Decadence 2018 and invoked the momentum from this event to propel myself and manifest my craziest year yet, adventuring across 14 different festivals.
As the largest NYE party in the U.S., there’s a special energy at Decadence CO that positively inspires all attendees to realize something bigger and brighter for their new year than if they celebrated at a low-key event or gathering. Entering 2020, anyone in the scene should venture for the most LIT opening salvo for a fresh decade – and this is the place to find it. Especially if you intend for festing to be a prominent part of your 2020s.
Taking place in downtown Denver at the Colorado Convention Center December 30 and 31, Decadence transforms the exhibit halls into two engaging stages (with a silent disco and art-installation haven in-between them) for a magnificent, indoor festival environment. For the ninth edition of the event, the first night sees bass warlock Bassnectar return for his seventh year in a row, alongside OG legend Tiësto. German electro-remixer Boys Noize, French queen of world bass CloZee, electro house/dubstep producer Feed Me, Wobble Masters Ganja White Night, funky-bass team-up Gigantic NGHTMRE, indie future-bass dreamer Jai Wolf, Dutch maestro of banging house Oliver Heldens, and the groovy future-house combo of Tchami & Malaa fill out night one’s terrific lineup.
On night two, I’d guess space mom REZZ and legacy duo Zeds Dead – or possibly the infamous cake-thrower Steve Aoki – will be the ones to ring in the new year. Trance heavy-hitters Cosmic Gate and Gareth Emery, trap monster Diesel (aka Shaq), future-house star Don Diablo, club-destroyer Fisher, trap chiller graves, electronic-pop duo Louis the Child, future-bass soothsayer San Holo, and heaven-trap party angels SLANDER round out December 31.
