German Composer Ben Böhmer hits Live Home Run | EZOO Evolved

by The Freaks - Staff

Well-accomplished musician and composer, Ben Böhmer has been producing house music since 2015 on various labels including having his work featured on Anjunadeep releases and collaborations with Lane 8 and most recently Lutrell. No stranger to the stage, Böhmer’s notable tour appearances include having performed at Anjunadeep Open Air in the UK, Tomorrowland in 2018, and Group Therapy 300.

Creating music that has been described as “dreamy”, “exhilarating” and “brimming”, his Anjunadeep release of the song “Morning Falls” has an ‘otherworldly’ feel and reverbs a sense of experimental communication with intelligent life in the heavens while offering a soothing sense of groove that grounds you. Described as an artist who can incorporate dance elements to create a “masterpiece”, Böhmer has provided some of the most uplifting and inspirational pieces out there.

So, this year’s performance at EZOO Evolved had the unique distinction of the performer giving a live performance! Having already been familiar with the exceptional level of his work I looked forward to this show and reported about the performance as I was listening to it.

One of the advantages of seeing a live EDM event is that it can’t be easily be replicated, it feels fresh even if it’s a song you’ve heard before and it’s created from the mood of the artist at that moment. Böhmer’s music is mixed live and created from his own music recordings where he utilizes MIDI controllers, loop synthesizers and an interface machine.

What is this journey that Böhmer is taking us on? Well, something about it feels very experimental. He’s exploring another side of humanity in his work. It’s celebratory, youthful and expansive. Its limitless nature reflects the fantasy we all have of anything being possible. He’s telling us that we as a community can do anything and when we realize that it’s gold.

As a supporter of live EDM performances, it was clear that this set was truly remarkable with a “new wave, futuristic” feel. The live elements of the performance added an esoteric feel that was appealing and perhaps only achievable in a live setting.
