Six Low Key Artists You High Key Need To See This Labor Day Weekend | Electric Zoo: Evolved

by The Freaks - Staff

With Labor Day quickly approaching and the recent announcement of the official Electric Zoo: Evolved afterparties, the excitement for Electric Zoo has heightened to the max!

NYC’s premier EDM festival has a stacked lineup making it easy to get lost in the hype of the headliners; but in my experience, the openers are just as important. If you go to festivals from open to close like me, the proper way to build up your day lies in the entire festival bill. You might be surprised to realize your favorite set was one of the openers or earlier sets of the day. Today I’m bringing you a few of our choices to explore — allowing you to get familiar with a few artists you might not exactly know just yet, but will surely fall in love with after you see them at zoo.

Miss Jennifer

NYC local legend and Electric Zoo veteran, Miss Jennifer is gracing us with her energetic yet seductive house and techno vibes again this year. Having seen her a few times, her sets are fun and groovy. She’ll be opening up the Pryda Arena on Saturday for the curator’s U.S festival debut. Make sure you’re camping outside of the festival gates for this one. Get your best dance shoes and get ready to groove to the sounds of Miss Jennifer.

MIME

Speaking of NYC locals, add MIME’s opening debut Electric Zoo set to your schedule for Friday at the AMF Stage. Having well over 5 million plays on his Spotify artist page, some of MIME’s work includes a banging as well groovy a remix of DJ Snake’s track with French Montana, ‘Creep On Me’ and Macklemore’sI Don’t Belong In This Club’. Being known to the DJ scene and playing at famous NYC clubs such as Schimanski, we’re sure this will be a fun way to start this year’s evolution of Electric Zoo. Be sure to catch his opening festival set on Friday.

Dimibo

If you’re in the mood for some psytrance in your life, your prayers are about to be answered. The psytrance duo known as Dimibo is ready to bring the heat on Sunday at the Riverside Stage. Being signed to labels such as Armin van Buuren’s imprint Who’s Afraid Of 138!?, Anjunabeats and Perfecto Fluoro, Dimibo’s music catalog is filled with bangers such as ‘The Gorge’ with Anjunabeats very own Jason Ross and the special remix of Excision’s track with Seven Lions, ‘The Paradox’. We’re sure you are going to get your full fill of psy by the end of this one. This is going to be an unforgettable opening of the Riverside Stage on Sunday for this duo’s Electric Zoo debut.

MiTiS

This artist has been on my own personal bucket list for a very long time now. Ever since hearing his remix of Seven Lions’ tracks ‘Cold Skin’ and ‘Falling Away’, I’ve been in love with his melodic sound. Also playing the Riverside Stage on Sunday, MiTiS is making his Electric Zoo debut as well. He will be sure to hit you with all the feels on Sunday — prepare to sing along to some of these amazing tracks or hum the amazing melodies along with the crowd.

Eli Brown

Coming off an enormous collaboration with Solardo — ‘XTC’, Eli Brown is rising quickly and making waves within the dance music scene. Brown is sure to play an amazing techno set with booming beats that will have you fist-pumping hard, with tracks like ‘Brazil’ and two of my personal favorites ‘Freak You Right’ and ‘Wait No More’. This set is surely going to make you shake it at the AMF stage on Sunday. If you’re a techno snob, make sure you’re rail riding it hard for this one.

OMNOM

Last but not least, this DJ/producer from Los Angeles should be on your radar this Labor Day weekend. Signed to labels such as DirtyBird, OMNOM is known for his groovy techno sound and heavy snares. Having seen him on a random night in Vegas this past November and my rave mom having seen him at the Electric Forest that just passed, we’re wild for OMNOM’s groovy sound and couldn’t be more excited for him to make his Elrctric Zoo debut. Be sure you catch him Friday on the AMF stage and be ready to dance as the sun begins to set slowly on the lovely New York City skyline.
