If you’ve ever given a thought to visiting the magical little island called Ibiza, don’t hesitate — make this the year you finally hop on a plane to this beautiful piece of paradise. Not only will you experience world-class parties at some of the world’s most critically acclaimed clubbing venues, but there is a ton of nature that the island has to offer.
You’re going to want to add Ibiza to your own bucket list.
From white sand beaches and clear blue waters to sunsets and sunrises across the horizon, you’ll have a chance to fill your days and nights with chilled-out vibes and have a chance to relax after partying from day into night and back into the morning. But let’s be honest, you’re heading to Ibiza to have the party experience of a lifetime. Don’t worry, that’s why I finally checked this one off my bucket list too.
With five days of hitting up events on the white isle in my back pocket, I’m here to give you a reason to see these shows for yourself.
Straight from the plane to the rave.
The airplane touched down in Ibiza on Saturday at midnight and call me crazy, but I hopped off the plane club-ready and headed straight for Amnesia for elrow! If you didn’t already know, elrow is a party that’s celebrated around the globe throughout the year and is something you have to experience at least once in your life (if not more). Each presentation has a different theme — this one being “Singer Morning” — and there are characters, blow up toys and decor themed to each party. Having two rooms, Amnesia offered one room with an open to close performance by Skream. The other room hosted, Adam Beyer, Mar-T, Bastian Bux and Eddy. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, elrow has one of the best party atmospheres of any show I’ve been too. Ibiza is a great fit for this spectacular residency and you can also catch an elrow party near you by clicking here.
Sunday morning arrived and the day was spent walking the beach and enjoying the scenery until it was time to get ready for another night at another wonderful Ibiza residency. Sunday night had us at Solomun +1 at Pacha. Yet another club with a unique set up that allows you to view the DJ from almost any angle. As always, Solomun put on an amazing set which showcased his talent as an artist. Not to mention the support from DJ Seinfeld was quite the musical journey as well.
Experiencing Circoloco in Ibiza made me “believe the hype”.
During the day on Monday, there was a lot of poolside lounging going on. Not for long though because Monday night saw us at Circoloco at DC-10. This three-room venue gives space for a massive lineup which includes the likes of Amelie Lens, Jennifer Cardini, Guy Gerber, Gerd Jansen and many more. Yes, you should in fact “believe the hype” when it comes to any Circoloco party — especially one in Ibiza. Banging techno sound can be heard anywhere from an outdoor terrace area, and indoor clubbing space and even a room that looks more like a cave or a medieval dungeon.
Eat, sleep, rave, repeat was definitely my motto during this week. Tuesday had me at two different shows. The first being at Ushuaïa, which is possibly the most well-known venue on the island. Known for its outdoor, poolside atmosphere, Ushuaïa is definitely the perfect place to host Tomorrowland presents Dimitri Vegas and Like Mike. Opening up was HDDN, who started the day off with bangers and anthems galore. EDX followed up this act with his house vibes, which was perfect for the atmosphere at hand. Jonas Blue took the stage next and warmed the crowd up for the main event of the evening. Finally, Dimitri Vegas and Like Mike hopped on the decks and really took control of the crowd with a slew of tracks that had everyone singing along to every word and melody.
My Tuesday wasn’t finished yet though, it was time to head over to Hï for Bodyworks — an event which is a weekly showcase for the much sought after talents, Camelphat, Fisher and Solardo. With two rooms to allow for an optimal party experience, guests can enjoy sets by their favorite artists by bouncing between rooms easily.
We saved the best for last.
Wednesday marked the finale of my trip to Ibiza and was certainly my most anticipated event of the week. We were back at Hï for Armin van Buuren, Sunnery James and Ryan Marciano’s weekly residency. The main room was filled with the progressive tunes of Maor Levi for the first two hours and what a journey and build up that was. A perfect way to set the stage for the ASOT ring leader, Armin van Buuren! With three hours of trance, fans were uplifted and dancing about. In the side room, Sunnery James and Ryan Marciano were throwing down with some seriously groovy house and electro vibes. Back to the main room, Ben Gold and Omnia were there closing out the night with their latest collaboration, FUTURECODE! Their set was chock full of recent releases and unreleased material, which will have fans begging to know when those tracks will be available to us. Don’t worry though, I had the distinct pleasure to sit down with FUTURECODE to talk about some of their upcoming releases — stay tuned for more on that.
For now, you can book those plane tickets to Ibiza and get on over to experience these and many other parties for yourselves. Check out our complete guide to Ibiza for more info on the fabulous residencies the island has to offer.
