Scottish DJ and Producer Grum is a fan favorite on Anjunabeats. He’s had multiple number one singles on Beatport, performs at some of the biggest festivals, and is in super high demand. His amazing talent and career spanning over a decade make him the perfect Man Crush Monday.
Grum was sfmfstaffisingly my favorite set of the Anjunabeats Austin show a few months ago. I’ve been sleeping on what an amazing DJ he is and I was blown away! His whole performance was super high energy and was the highlight of the night for many fans. Ever since that show, I’ve had Grum’s music on repeat. His Tomorrowland 2018 performance was also outstanding, and I can’t wait to catch him next month at The Gorge for the ABGT Weekender.
Graeme Shepherd also known as Grum had an interest in Electronic Dance Music from an early age, little did he know he was on his way to an amazing career. His passion drove his producing talent, and he went from producing tracks to wanting to get his music heard and that’s when he found his way onto the DJ stage. His debut album “Heartbeats” was released in 2010 to rave reviews and shot up to number one on US iTunes Electronic Dance Charts.
Released on his own label of the same name, “Heartbeats” is a feel-good, synth-filled, vibrant debut. “Turn it up” was selected as iTunes Single of the Month. The track “Heartbeats” begins with bouncing beats that give you an 80’s video game feel and is a super catchy tune; no wonder it was featured in the video game “Saints Row: The Third”.
After joining the Anjunabeats label in 2015, Grum has continued to produce anthem after anthem of solid tracks. He was also commissioned by the label to mix “Anjunabeats Worldwide 07” in 2017. His remix of “Higher Love” is phenomenal; deep, progressive beats which tiptoes between the sound of Anjunabeats and Anjunadeep. His style is all his own and his ability to intertwine the deep throbbing sounds with the upbeat, bold, bring shivers down your soul tracks is extraordinary.
His influences undeniably come across in Grum’s sets. Depeche Mode, New Order, and Tears for Fears have all made an imprint on his signature sound. His remix of Tears for Fears “Shout” has become a club favorite and have fans singing along whenever it’s played. His latest track “Stay” featured on Anjunabeats Volume 14 combines intoxicating lyrics with throbbing, intense beats and is pure musical perfection.
If you haven’t had a chance to truly take in and appreciate the sound of Grum, what are you waiting for?! He is touring all over the place in 2019 and was on several stops on the North American Anjunabeats Tour. We are in the midst of the festival season and you can catch him at Tomorrowland 2019, Creamfields 2019, sharing the stage with another Trance heavyweight Paul van Dyk at Shine Ibiza and next month at the much anticipated ABGT Weekender at The Gorge.
I am super ecstatic to check out Grum along with the rest of the amazing talent next month at The Gorge. We are less than a month away and I just can’t handle the wait (Check out this list of Festival Essentials). If you are still on the fence about making your way to The Gorge for the ABGT Weekender, it is a MUST. You can ask anyone, including myself, who went to ABGT250 and the whole weekend is magic. An unforgettable experience to share with your friends and make new ones along the way. Tickets are still on sale, get yours today!
