All Hail The Silence – ‘City Lovers’ (Com Truise Remix)

The mightily moving ‘City Lovers’ from All Hail The Silence’s January-released debut studio album ‘’ is the track in the remix spotlight today. Its remixer is Oneida, NY-born synth/chillwave specialist Seth Haley — better known in the cooler margins of electronic music as Com Truise.

In many respects Truise’s treatment couldn’t be riffing off the eighties more if it was wearing a Walkman, painted electric pink and had shoulder pads the size of the Hollywood sign! The LA-based producer has though opted to replace a much of the original’s emotional lament-to-lift-rollercoaster with a more urgent, dramatic and club-like equalization.

Hammond organ lines fall across syncopated beats, whilst warm analogue bass offsets the broodily monochromatic tone of Com’s surrounding production. Throughout, Christian’s song teems with feels, as the ‘City Lovers’ moodsome backstory becomes apparent.

‘City Lovers’ by All Hail The Silence got a remix from Com Truise and it is out now!

Sevenn – ‘Loco Papi’

With the Armada Music follow up to the arena-grabbing ‘Lollipop’, Sevenn’s declaration that ‘Loco Papi’ represents “a really good time – that’s the vibe I’m trying to get across with this song”, is something of an understatement.

There’s a horn section taking you to an exotic destination, an insane-in-the-brain vocal urging you to join in with the madness, and a breakdown counting down to that cuckoo clock moment on the dancefloor when pandemonium ensues. A running guitar loop confirms the track’s preference for sun, sea and sand – not forgetting some pretty firm kicks guarding the party – and ‘Loco Papi’ is heavenly summing clubbing powered by a combination of jumping beans, itching power and wide smiles.
