The final night of EDC Las Vegas 2019 ended with a bang! Some of my favorite artists were on the Sunday lineup and though I’d tried to save myself for it, I wasn’t quite able to maintain my normal Energizer Bunny level of dancing. Dieselboy, ANNA, and Tchami x Malaa: No Redemption Tour knocked my socks off. Though chilly, it was a phenomenal night of artists from all genres smacking us upside the head with their musical genius.
I had to get another ride in while it was not too crowded before the sun went down, so we headed straight to the carnival area and I unwisely picked the double spinning ring of nausea. While it was fun, my poor tummy was pissed at me for the next 20 minutes. We wandered for a bit before catching Dieselboy play his typical old school Drum n’ Bass set. And when I say typical, I mean FIRE! I was surprised there weren’t more people at the Basspod stage to catch him and MC Messinian tear it up.
ANNA laid down an aggressive, driving Techno set. From behind the decks, she danced along with us, and her energy was contagious. Smiling at the Neon Garden crowd, ANNA proved yet again that she’s an insanely skilled goddess of night. It was easy finding my friends with their light up Anjunacube and we got to do a bit of shuffling together. As luck would have it, almost all the artists I wanted to see throughout the weekend were at Quantum Valley and Neon Garden, so I didn’t lose much time walking between stages.
I shouldn’t be surprised by it anymore, but yet again Andrew Bayer was stunning. He played many of his tracks from “In My Next Life” mixed in with some of his older work, and as usual, he jumped up and down and sang along with us the whole time. As Andrew closed with “End of All Things” there were bursts of fireworks that made me feel as bright as the sky.
We walked over to catch Tchami x Malaa: No Redemption Tour at Cosmic Meadow and the crowd was moving and grooving. They were playing Anti Up‘s “Pizza” track as we arrived which made me miss my rave fam back in Portland since we often sing it to each other as we’re leaving the club. In typical fashion, Malaa was being all gangster swigging Jack Daniel’s behind the decks. On our way to the next stage, I picked up some merchandise to commemorate my inaugural EDC since the lines had finally died down.
I hadn’t planned on seeing Adam Beyer again since I’d seen him Thursday night at a Factory 93 party, but I just couldn’t resist. It was death by Techno and Adam was my executioner. From there we hopped around a bit from Delta Heavy to Bunny of Rabbit in the Moon and then GHASTLY for a bit of a mind twist.
The sky began to brighten as we wandered over to Kinetic Field to welcome the new day with Jamie Jones. It was the only main stage set I saw over the weekend and since almost everyone had gotten tired and cold and started leaving the venue an hour earlier, we got right up front and center. The final track of the weekend was Faithless’ “Insomnia” and I couldn’t imagine a more perfect way to close out Insomniac Event‘s EDC Las Vegas 2019. Catch my full review of the entire festival in the next couple of days!
