It was a beautiful clear day in Austin on Friday and the setting for the perfect day for the Anjunafam. The anticipation for this show was intense. Everyone in the Lone Star State was super excited the day had finally arrived!
Up first was the Anjunafam Texas Meetup which was held at Knomad Bar. This was an excellent way to pregame for the main event, grab some food and meet new friends. The turnout for the meetup was amazing! Local DJ Ryan Patrick provided the tunes throughout the event and there was a merch raffle, kandi trading, and lots of hugs and laughs. The major highlight of the meetup was when Oliver Smith, Sunny Lax and ilan Bluestone made their way through the bar. Everyone was super surprised to see them show up; they were extremely nice and chatted and took pictures with anyone who requested. Big shout out to Zach Hightower for organizing the meetup.
As it got closer to show time everyone made their way from the meetup to the venue. The excitement in the air was palpable. As we made our way into the show, the lines were quick, and the venue had lots of space to roam. Tinlicker was already getting the party underway and the vibe was electric.
As the night progressed and the venue started to fill up, there was still room to dance and each set was more mind-blowing than the last. Genix came in strong and proved once again to be a true force in the Trance scene. Oliver Smith b2b Sunny Lax was phenomenal; theirs was the set I was looking forward to catching and they did not disappoint. Grum blew the place away; his set included some old school favorites and was a standout of the night. ilan Bluestone b2b Andrew Bayer kept the energy high and they were an awesome pair to close out the night. Bluestone was all over the stage and his intensity could not be contained. Bayer’s hit “Signs of the Fall” had the crowd on their feet and the feeling in the room was frenzied. The night closed out with Bayer’s beautiful “End of All Things”, the perfect ending to a perfect night.
RealMusic Events totally nailed it with the production. The venue was the perfect size to hold the number of people who attended, you never felt overly crowded, and there was ample room to dance your heart out. The venue was clean, the staff was friendly, and the parking was free. The only hiccup of the night was the long bar lines which RealMusic Events made sure to address the following day. All in all, an A+ event.
The tour is still underway all over the states which also include the two-day stops in Los Angeles and San Francisco. Additionally, Above and Beyond returns to The Gorge for the ABGT Weekender happening in July along with some of the biggest names of Anjunabeats and Anjunadeep. Many of us on the Fresh Music Freaks staff CANNOT WAIT to attend this magical event! Make sure to check out the rest of the dates for the Anjunabeats North American Tour coming to a city near you.
