Morpei embodies what it means to hustle. Born in Bolivia, he had his work cut out for him to succeed as an artist. At 16 he was already a major influence in the underground scene in his country. When the talented artist turned 18 he moved to the US to pursue his music career. Since then, Morpei has become a notable house music staple and this is the second time we’ve seen the artist on Desert Hearts Records. “Desert Faith” is his first full EP on the label, and the title only seems fitting to represent the young artist’s journey.
The two-track EP is a perfect example of Morpei’s retro-turned-modern style. The opener, “Faith in Groove”, is infused with tribal drum elements and punchy bass lines, and the jazzy old-school electric keyboard gives it that groovy Morpei edge.
