Anjunadeep is shaping up to have another stellar year! Their artists have sold out shows all over the world, they have an Albanian beach festival in the works, and now the long-awaited release of “Anjunadeep 10 Mixed by James Grant and Jody Wisternoff”. This album is the label’s tenth installment of the annual compilation series. Label co-founder and A&R James Grant and globe-trotting Bristolian DJ Jody Wisternoff are at the helm of this release, and it’s their sixth compilation together.
Launched in London in 2005, Anjunadeep has evolved into one of electronic music’s leading labels with over 400 releases under its belt. The label is also gaining an ever-increasing reputation for outstanding intimate parties, and a roster of superb talent from all over the globe. Yotto, Luttrell, Moon Boots, Ben Bohmer, and Eli & Fur are just a few of the notable rising stars from the label.
Last year was a landmark year for Anjunadeep with a string of sold-out Anjunadeep Open Air shows around the world. The showcase included the 7000 capacity Three Mills Island in London, Hong Kong’s Kowloon Park, and the iconic Brooklyn Mirage in New York. The year was rounded out with a spectacular sold-out showcase at Printworks in London, which included a memorable extended set from James and Jody.
The label carries this momentum into 2019, with Grant and Wisternoff presenting the carefully crafted ‘Anjunadeep 10‘. An eclectic mix of exclusive electronic cuts ranging from the dreamlike melodies of Tokyo’s Lycoriscoris and Stockholm’s boerd, to peak-time dancefloor gems from Yotto, Lane 8, and Luttrell, ‘Anjunadeep 10‘ captures the full range of the label sound.
Alongside an abundance of edits and remixes from James and Jody themselves, the compilation welcomes a hand-picked selection of new names and emerging talent to the label. This year’s installation sees label debuts from the likes of BAILE, Ocula, and GRAZZE, as well as familiar names Virtual Self, and Tomas Barfod, via a pair of exclusive remixes from Lane 8, and James and Jody.
The whole release is deep, groovy perfection. “All The Time”, combines beautiful piano melodies with minimal lyrics and is flawless. The haunting vocals on “Things that Matter” are exquisite. Another stand out track is “Prospect”; it starts out with deep rolling beats but then brings in an airy element that ties together perfectly. The release also includes already established club favorites; “Night Blooming Jasmine”, “Out of Me”, and “In Memoriam”.
You don’t have to be a hardcore Anjunafan to absolutely love this album. James and Jody are amazing
