Throw away the CDJs and expect the unexpected with Cityfox’s new live festival. The team behind Cityfox pulled off an amazing show spanning across three stages throughout Avant Gardner in Brooklyn. The event showcased the artists’ true musical abilities by utilizing various pieces of equipment ranging from keyboards, drum pads, analog mixers and even live vocalists.
A live experience like never before.
We arrived at the venue shortly after the doors opened. We found ourselves in the main room enjoying David Paglia, who was tearing up the vinyls playing groovy house beats. One of the highlights of the night was David playing ‘Waiting For Something’ by Hanski. Between the playful fan interaction and solid song selection David Paglia’s opening vinyl set started off the night right. We ventured over to one of the side rooms where Christian Volstad was playing a delightfully ambient set.
Soon after, we found ourselves in the Lost Circus getting lost in the music with Frank Wiedemann going back to back with Mathew Jonson. These two were manning a pair of analog mixers and creating a magical experience for the crowd. The side room caught our attention again as we wandered over to catch RJLA. Liset Alea enchanted us with her amazing vocal talent as RJ laid down the beats. For us, this was such a unique experience because neither of us have ever witnessed live vocals during a techno event.
Back to the main stage we go for Octave One’s hard-hitting techno set. The pair put off an extremely energetic vibe as they were dancing along with their fans. This really lit up the atmosphere, just like the incredible visuals did as well. Next up was one of the headliners that was definitely one of the most anticipated acts of the evening, Âme. He played a melodic set and you can definitely tell that the audiovisual production synced perfectly to provide the crowd with an immersive experience.
With so many great artists on the lineup, you have to let the music carry you from room to room.
Giorgia Angiuli was in the Lost Circus curating a truly mesmerizing performance. I’ve never seen an artist utilize as many additional pieces of live equipment as she did during her set. It was definitely a unique experience I wish you could have witnessed.

This was one of the best shows I’ve been too.
And it was great that I didn’t have to travel to the end of world to see these performers.
So glad they came to NYC!
Octave One’s performance blew me away, their YouTube performances don’t do them justice.
Gonna keep looking for more Live EDM events in the future
