Beta Nightclub Closes its Doors | A Tearful Goodbye to Denver’s Iconic Club

by The Freaks - Staff

Late December, Denver’s beloved Beta Nightclub made a post announcing that the venue will be shutting down in January. For over a decade, Beta has drawn some of the biggest names in electronic dance music to Denver; the bass capital of the world. For Beta’s last weekend, they are throwing a three-night long celebration with secret lineups each night. Said the Sky came in and surprised Beta for the final Future Thursday. Zero Gravity Friday: The Final Mission had multiple neck-breaking special guests. Some of these guests include Figure b2b Midnight Tyrannosaurus, 12th Planet, and Dirt Monkey. On Saturday, January 5, Beta will be putting on their grand finale with Myon b2b Mitiska featuring special guest Alissa Fuedo.

With awards such as Top 100 Clubs in the World by DJMAG.com and Top 25 Greatest Clubs of All Time by Billboard, there is no doubt that Beta Nightclub has been wildly successful. Beta does not announce an official reason for the club’s closure in their goodbye post, but they do mention the need to reexamine the club’s mantra: “club culture evolving.” Denver has seen many other successful clubs and music venues pop-up in the last few years, taking away the spotlight from Beta. But Beta ends their goodbye post open to speculation about what the future holds for the beloved location. The post mentions they are “exploring the future for this very special venue.” Could Beta be getting revamped? Will a completely new club move into the space? Or will the venue be added to the long list of spaces in Denver that are getting turned into apartments? For now, Beta asks Denver not to focus on the future of the venue. Instead, Beta asks that we celebrate the past decade of memories enjoyed there.

In celebration of Beta Nightclub’s final weekend, take a look at some of the features that have made this club unforgettable.

Funktion-One Sound System

Beta opened its doors in 2008 as one of the first venues to feature a Funktion-One sound system. Over 100,000 watts of sound blasting through Funktion-One speakers and twenty-one inch dual sub-woofers has captured the hearts of DJs and club-goers from all over the world.

Eco-Sustainable Nightlife

Beta Nightclub has an overall green rating of 90% and has a lounge with a 100% green rating. The club utilizes a recycling program and renovations on the venue have been done with eco-friendly materials. These initiatives help keep Beta’s impact on the environment neutral. Beta has set the stage for nightclubs to run with minimal impact on the environment.
