Headliners Unite: What it means to be an Insomniac Headliner

by The Freaks - Staff

After attending two Insomniac events, I am stoked to attend my third as an illustrious headliner at EDC Mexico. Every Insomniac event I have attended has been stellar in terms of production value, artist talent, and overall warm and welcoming vibes. Before I had witnessed the power of Insomniac events, I had always wondered personally if the “EDC, where YOU are the Headliner” was more of a sales and marketing strategy or an actual cultural movement. I don’t mean to be skeptical. It took me EDC Vegas for its 20th anniversary and meeting so many wonderful energetic and welcoming fellow Headliners to realize that not only is it a movement but that it is truly meant, and felt by Pasquale and his team. Insomniac is a brand that truly cares about their Headliners, and it shows.

When I sat down to write this article I could have gushed about how fantastic the lineup for EDC Mexico is, I could have dropped links for all my favorite DJ’s who will be playing for the masses, or I could have discussed points of interest for those of us who would like to sightsee in Mexico City. Instead, it took a completely different direction. So without further ado, here are five reasons I love being an Insomniac Headliner.

One: Creating long-lasting relationships with fellow headliners. Insomniac fans are truly beautiful and remarkable souls. I made so many amazing friends whom I still keep in contact with from EDC Vegas. I’m hoping to meet as many amazing people as possible in Mexico.

Two: I get to FINALLY see Gaia! No, not the trance duo. Although, They were absolute fire at Dreamstate this year. I get to finally see in person the stage I have been salivating over in photos. The FOMO was real. Although this has not been completely confirmed as of yet, Insomniac did bring it to EDC Orlando, so I am holding out major hope for Gaia stage Kinetic Field in Mexico.

Three: Overly stoked to wear all my EDC outfits. As mentioned in my previous article, this may make me a bit of a basic bitch, but I am so excited to wear my finest rave bras and look truly extra. I don’t care if I am the only person overdressed, that will just give me more of a chance to meet people.

Four: Although it is only a two-day event, I will be dancing from afternoon to late evening, surrounded by an energetic force that just seems to inspire me in ways that are indescribable. Dancing is a guiding light in my life, and dancing as a Headliner is just the personal cherry on top.

Five: Being a Headliner means being responsible for helping others. I take the “take care of each other” slogan to heart. While festing allows us all to feel the joy of being a kid again, it also helps us feel a sense of unity, and brings me joy that I will be surrounded by so many like-minded people who are all in one beautiful place together.

What does being a Headliner mean to you? I would love to hear from you! Send me a comment and you can be #famous. I can’t wait to meet all of you beautiful fellow Headliners in just a few short weeks!
